Pakistan Aeronautical Complex to joint-manufacture 48 Wing Loong II UCAV

It is possible that these are being procured out of a larger UCAV base that both the PAF and PA want. It is possible that to save attack heli lifespans on these long drawn out insurgencies the switch may go over to these UCAV’s as they have much greater endurance and possibly better sensor coverage due to the height they loiter at.
So much so that all future coin ops could be relegated to UCAV’s working with patrols and joint teams.
In essence, it's the current Turkish way....

One armed TB II UAV is coming out of the production line every week...

. .
We don’t have much info about Demet cluster bombs excluding a few pictures. Turkey didn’t put its stamp to block spreading cluster bombs but It seems Turkey has some worry for our NATO “allies” who loves to protect PKK/PYD terrorists under the name of human right speeches so Turkey don’t want to put Demet cluster bombs inside the eye of those countries.
Sames the case with ours.... after they were fined for marketing (brocjure with pics n info) them in an arms show in UK.... they have even taken out TDS-1 & PDS-1 from all GoP websites.

.
A great move!! Special ops should be in s position to call them as easily as the common folks call taxis!! Next in the line should be tons MRAPs...
For me the highlight is the joint production, joint-venture and transfer of technology. I hope Pakistan and Turkey can do a lot of good joint ventures especially for next gen A/C and UAVs.

Drones have nothing to do with S400. These drones are being acquired for round the clock border surveillance for cross border terrorism.
he means it goes tit for tat against India move politically, not only militarily.

ISIS is taking considerable land in Afghanistan near the Pakistani border.
and they have many manpads, old and new.

Great addition specially on the Gwadar border and Afghanistan border areas

Baby is armed well for party along Afghan border

These will go a long way protecting the hostile border with Afghanistan.

SSG wanted them for special operations. Imagine a bird flying in a 20^2km circle around an SSG team for 30hrs, providing real time intel and ability to strike any non line of sight threat to the SSG team emanating from behind hills, valleys or other natural obstacles.

This would eliminate the need to call in vipers which can only remain on station for 3 hours before having to refuel and to bring a new pilot in the cockpit. WL-II carries IR guided missiles and Small Diameter Bombs.

It can also carry small but deadly accurate LGBs with laser beaming being done by the craft itself rather than using an SOF guy for painting targets.

It can also be made to carry ELINT, IMINT, SAR or RF Jamming payload. Add its loiter time and you'd have a much less requirement to use those King Airs or DB-110s.

This sounds like terrible news for our enemies operating in Afghanistan.

The Turkish folks have successfully demonstrated these plausibilities with the land based ASELSAN KORAL systems!!! Five such systems are currently with TuAF, and are deployed at the Syrian border!!! The next step is to transfer these EW capabilities to high altitude and heavy payload AKINCI UAVs (test flight in 2019)

To add a few more brother, That capability is applied to a land platform and named Koral.

Aierial EW jammer platform is named as AirSOJ that deal was signed and development/production has been proceeding for 4 systems. A strong EW deterrence is one of the safest method If you want to keep your aerial assets safe while penetrating a strong SAM establishment in mission zone. Drones are the easy target for SAM systems but Swarm attack drones are an effective solution to deal with them.

Otherwise, It is costly, difficult and dangerous to deal with new generation SAM systems. S-400 is dangerous enough to give a serious damage to many modern airforces so EW capability of states became more vital in every passing year.

If most modern Israeli F-16 can be shot down by obsolete S-200 system, we should take needed precuations to deal with more modern missiles.

Egypt dispatched pterosaur drone airstrike IS missile explosive high-speed traveling vehicle
2018-10-10 16:34:27

Recently, Egypt announced a live video of an Egyptian Air Force fighter and armed drone attacking extreme armed forces on the Sinai Peninsula. As shown above, a missile launched from a drone directly explodes a high-speed traveling vehicle with precision. It was amazing that many extremists were fleeing around the car before the missile was hit. Although Egypt has no external description of the drone model, the Egyptian Air Force currently only has the pterosaur-I armed drone purchased from China to perform the ground strike mission, and the special cross cursor from the video can also confirm the move. It is the pterosaur-I.

In March 2017, the Egyptian Air Force dispatched the pterosaur-I armed drone to successfully destroy a moving pickup truck while fighting the extreme armed forces on the Sinai Peninsula. However, the pickup truck was just starting to escape and the speed was low. Nowadays, the pterosaur drone hits the high-speed traveling vehicle, which undoubtedly proves its strength with actual combat results. At the same time, it also gives the Chinese military industry a long face. After all, only the armed drones of China and the United States have done it in the world. Launching a missile in actual combat hits a high-speed traveling vehicle!

Egypt began to receive pterosaur-I armed drones from China in 2015, and also introduced the Chinese ASN-209 drone technology to produce this type of drones locally. In addition to Egypt, there are many countries that purchase Chinese pterosaur-I drones, such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, but the most convenient one is Egypt, and the actual performance is very eye-catching. However, it is interesting to note that Egypt has successively purchased the China Rainbow-4 and Rainbow-5 large-scale armed drones, becoming the first customer of the Rainbow-5 drone. It should be Egypt’s dissatisfaction with the operational performance of the pterosaur-I. After all, the pterosaur-I can only hang two missiles.

As we all know, the pterosaur series and the rainbow series drones are China's best-selling large-scale armed drones, almost monopolizing the world's large armed drone market, accounting for more than 85% of the market. The export performance of Chinese drones has made many American companies jealous. Even the top US defense companies are arguing that the White House’s policy of restricting US companies’ sales of armed drones is very stupid. Nowadays, the price and use cost of large-scale fighters are getting higher and higher, which is unaffordable in many countries. The armed drones with low cost, long air time and poor combat effectiveness are becoming more and more popular. In the future, Chinese pterosaurs and The Rainbow series will inevitably get more orders.

China will sell 48 advanced armed drones to Pakistan. Called the Wing Loong II, the drone can be used for both combat and surveillance missions. Although details of when and deal price is not clear, the drones will enhance Pakistan’s capabilities in the backdrop of India signing a deal with Russia for the S-400 missile defence system.

What is Wing Loong II?

The Wing Loong II is an improved version of the Wing Loong 1 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. Falling in the category of Medium Altitude Long Endurance, it is manufactured by the Chengdu Aircraft Industrial (Group) Company. The UAV has been developed primarily for People’s Liberation Army Air Force and export. The concept of the Wing Loong II was unveiled at the Aviation Expo China in Beijing in September 2015.

What are its capabilities?

Having a length of 11 m and wingspan of 20.5 m, the Wing Loong II can carry bombs and air-to-surface missiles. It can carry 480 kg of munitions. It can fly for around 20 hours and has a maximum speed of 370 km per hour. It is also integrated with day and infrared cameras and sensors to collect surveillance and targeting data. The UAV is remotely controlled from the mobile ground station.

When is Pak acquiring?

Pakistan acquiring the drones was announced by its air force’s Sherdils Aerobatic Team on its offi cial Facebook page on Sunday. But details on deal price, when it was struck or when the Wing Loong IIs will be delivered is not clear. The aerobatics team also announced that Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Kamra and Aviation Industry Corporation of China’s Chengdu Aircraft Industrial (Group) Company will jointly manufacture the drones in the future.

What does this mean for India?

China is the largest supplier of military equipment to Pakistan. A deal providing 48 Wing Loong IIs could be China’s largest export order for drones. The addition of the armed drones to Pakistan’s arsenal will definitely enhance its surveillance and strike capabilities, especially along the border with India. However, India which currently does not have armed drones, signed a deal worth $5.43 billion with Russia for the S-400 air defence system last week. The system can engage all types of aerial targets, including drones, within a range of 400 km.
