PESHAWAR (updated on: March 21, 2010, 22:13 PST): Ministry of Railways has prepared a summary of railway track to provide access to India to Central Asian states, Aaj News reported on Sunday.

Talking to media persons, Federal Minister for Railways Ghulam Ahmed Bilour stated that India had expressed its desire to use Pakistani railway line to access Central Asian states and the Europe.

He said the summary would be sent to the federal cabinet soon.

If it get materialize then it will be beneficial to both the countries.


But, I don't think this is serious, it is a excuse to built central Asia route for China.

So, that India or Russia can't raise questions about it.

They will build in the name of India-China-Pakistan mutual benefit and china will use it.

The manufacturing capabilities of pakistan are all known.

Be real it will be route for china and pakistan will get revenue for providing access.

And pakistan can earn that revenue from India also.

Both China and India will compete for that market and Paksitan will get revenue it is as simple as that.

As pakistan is developing country like China and India but lacks in large scale industrialization.

Pak can earn revenue and invest that money to build its industries then after 10-15 years you can stop giving access to India -China and sell pakistani goods there.

The lack of a railway line is not going to stop Indian exports to CAR - they just have to use alternate means of transport. India could just as well ship it Zahidan in Iran via ship and then use the rail link from there. It's really no big deal. It might earn Pakistan some money as transit fees, it might help India save some shipping costs - but thats' about it.

And those are in dreams that if pak will not provide access we will not get access to CA are completely uninformed.

For that purpose only, India has build a port at "Chabbar Port" Iran and Road in Afghanistan.

We will use Iranian route and reach Central Asia. Iran will earn revenue and India will get the market.

It will be pakistan not us at the loss.

So i suggest we should work together for our future, we have already wasted 62 golden years.

why would pakistan ship indian good directly previously...they themselves dont allow indian goods directly from india in their market...they like to buy them through dubai and hence buying them costly but it serves national pride no...

If the rail-link is allowed, it is a win-win situation: India gets new market, Pakistan gets revenue, and on the back of more economic dependence, relations will improve.

If rail-link is not allowed, it is a lose-lose situation. India will have to go for a new route which might be more expensive, pak doesn't earn any revenue, and due to lack of economic activity between India and Pak, relations will not improve on that front, and can deteriorate further. but economic loss will be more for Pak, since they will completely miss out on any revenue.

Also, this is a transit route for goods, not military hardware, so Pak is not compromising its sovereignty. Also, this rail link not a gift. Pak will be earning a good amount of transit fees. So this is business. Mutually beneficial business.

Just consider it as a business deal offered by any other country. Don't need to bring India bias into it. Pak can negotiate on transit fees and other business conditions to maximise benefit for its citizens.

Ohh we do know how an average Indian thinks about Pakistan and we have seen it on numerous occasions.
Also about your last line, the answer is no it does not excite us one bit because we are already well connected with China through KKH, we dont need a rail link through India. So thanks but no thanks.
