1000 km range is some thing, its not easy to do that, not even US has been able to do that yet. Well lets see how our scientists work on it. 1 more thing they still havnt confirmed that it can be fired from an aircraft. Perhaps pakistan need a bomber that has the ability to carry heavy pay load.
But all these things takes time, One day Inshallah!!!

Hmmnn thats some thing new, it could be, but i am personally unaware of that, 3000 kms thats hilariouse :crazy2: . But will it gonna lose its effectiveness with range as compared to short range 1s. Could u quote the name of that US sruise missile plzzz.

A few questions regarding Babur....

I assume Babur does go supersonic in its terminal phase, or does it?

If PN subs and ships are going to be equipped with the Babur, what platform will it use for Target Acquisition?

I'm especially interested in knowing the means for target acquisition for PN subs because you folks are rather overjoyed by its 500km range.

That is the part which I found most interesting! It means they have acquired the 'cold launch' capability for the missile. That is certainly a breakthrough if it is indeed the case.

How does a launching mechanism make a missile more stealthy?

Its a good thing Pakistan is going to develop Nuclear warheads small enough to fit on the Babur CM. This gives it another option including Ballistic Missiles and Fighter Bombers as a Nuclear delivery Vehicle.

Pakistan is developing its Babar cruise missile into a cheap, reliable, strategic nuclear delivery vehicle, StrategyPage.com reported Saturday. StrategyPage.com noted that Islamabad has successfully conducted a second test of the Babur cruise missile.
The 1.5 ton, 22 foot long missile has a range of 300 miles and appears capable of carrying a 500-pound warhead and the Pakistanis are already working on a nuclear weapon that would fit in it, the Web site said.

The Babur uses GPS guidance, and the Pakistanis say it has stealth features, StrategyPage.com said.

Cruise missiles are low tech compared to ballistic missiles and GPS makes it easy to equip the missile with a highly accurate, and inexpensive, guidance system. Since the missiles fly low, they are hard to spot with radar. Stealthiness makes the missile even more difficult for radar to pick up and it can be added by using the right materials, and shape, for the missile, the Web site said.

Cruise missiles are also a lot cheaper than ballistic missiles, costing about one fifth as much as a ballistic missile with the same range and payload, it said.

GPS guidance ?
Thats a great way to ensure that all the money poured into Babur goes waste!

Its old news indeed.
Pakistan is working on subkiloton nuclear devices for the army and navy.
These devices will be designed to take out airbases, battalions and other infrastrucure.

Three of the 6 nuclear tests back in 1998 measured subkiliton.

I wonder how effictive it will be to detonate one of these devices near an aircraft carrier. Would it be able to create floods high enough to damage the vessel?

If u can detonate it close by then well try blasting one right on it,That wud be real confirmation. :cheesy:

LOL

What I mean, can we get something like a mini tsunami to make major surface vessel like an aircraft carrier or a destroyer capsize?

Dont ever try sub-KT on India.

It will invite full retaliation.

like they will put existance of India on stake for an aircraft carrier.

You havent read our nuclear doctrine.

Neo,
You should know better than to make this statement. The good Colonel gave a brief on those tests of 1998. 3 of the tests were duds. I quote from one of his posts...
1) By the most implausible of scenarios that had the most advanced Pak nuke had managed a nuke strike its intended target on CFB Lahrs, Germany during the height of the Cold War, my base would have been operational within 2 hours after the strike. That's how far Pak nukes are behind.

2) That Pakistan has learned what went wrong is without a doubt. This is more important than what went right. Now, most likely you've fixed your mistakes but did you fix other mistakes that you're not aware of?

3) The Chinese design that has been touted around in Pakistan and in Lybia was a failed design. The warhead was intended for the Dong-Feng 2 rocket and as previously stated, the DF-2s aimed at the USSR were HE, NOT NUKES. Most obviously if Pakistan used this design, then She has not discovered the mistakes.

He further added....
4) This all means a hill of beans to India. India cannot afford to think that Pakistan has not discovered and fix the mistakes of the Chinese design. It would be a disastrous calculation if India is wrong.

A source that give the international assessment of the 1998 tests conducted by Pakistan.

No, not that way, the question that shud be asked is whether pakistan wud put its existance at stake for a IN AC.
