Pak-Sino relations and its impact on Pakistans reputation in the Muslim world

why are Turkey and Pakistan exactly friends ??
Turkey has tense relations with China and Russia - both of which are more important to Pakistan

It predates the creation of both countries. The muslims of this region, respected Ottoman Empire, since their own political power in subcontinent was snatched by the British after almost a rule of 1000 years by Muslim dynasties. Ottoman empire, was viewed as a viable force to counter the oppression of European imperialism. Turks led the muslims for 600 years, they controlled the holy cities, the Caliph of muslims was from Ottoman empire. Even the Mughal Kings of Indian subcontinent, used to get letter of endorsement from Caliph in Turkey. When WWI and Turkish war of independence happened, thousands of muslims serving in British Army (from Pakistan's Punjab and KPK provinces) revolted and joined the Turks in their fight, many more non military volunteers went to Turkey to assist the Turks and remember there were no cars back then, they went to Turkey on horseback...many soldiers and officers were arrested by the British and were hanged. The women gave all their gold and jewlery to the Turks to help in their fight.
Turks respect Pakistan, for that and have helped us during our disasters, be it floods and earthquakes, hopefully defence collaboration with them will increase further. Relations of Pakistan with any other country can never effect our bonds with Turkey.

In the end, I will mention, a letter along sent with pocket money by a 9 year old Turkish girl , named Merve Tekinay from Konya, to Pakistani President during Pakistan's floods, it will sum up the relations between two countries.

Turkish girl writes to Zardari - thenews.com.pk

( The handwritten letter in Turkish language promises continued help, “I will go on sending my help. Don’t hesitate, we are your best friend.”
Merve’s letter says, “I don’t know how much needs, equal to our help for your situation. I send you one-year pocket money and my doll. In the behalf of our friendship I also send a photo of me.” The letter further says, “I am little, I saw Pakistan in the news and felt so sad. My daddy told me that you helped us in Independence War a lot. So now it is our turn to help you in this flood.”
“I wrote this letter because I want you to know that we are all informed about this,” the letter said. The letter ends with, “May God help you. Kisses.” )

I understand the fondness for Ottomans, Caliphs etc. I have read my history books - Khilafat agitation etc. It is fine to have a soft corner for Turks and Turkey. But this is the real world. I think Pakistani-Turkish ties are symbolic with little substance. Now if you can rope in Iran into a 3 way partnership we are now talking about something tangible

Indians with their new found money, and the premature sense of self-importance spawning from it, can't understand Pakistan-Turkey relations. Lucky for them, neither the Turks nor the Pakistanis could ever care less about what they think.

Iran was well part of this friendship in Shah era, Pak, Turkey and Iran were cooperating on a RCD highway from Pak to Turkey, however with the fall of shah things changed.
RCD changed to ECO, i guess there was a trial of cargo train from Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul
However Iran-Turkish bickering is independent of Pakistan's relations with Turkey !!!
