There was a video of the exercise on TV< and a Saudi naval officer had a black uniform, like the Armoured Corp SD in PA.

Is this the usual uniform for Saudi navy?

I would rephrase them as Zionists. they are a wicked bunch who are blackmailing the west in the name of Nazi atrocities on innocent Jews. I am no mind reader but in their hearts they must be thanking their lucky stars for what Hitlers henchmen did and thus gave these Zionists the reason to sit on the neck of Europe and cause a perpetual conflict with the east which had no role, no say or no power over what was done by the Nazis. I didnt mean to defile this fine thread with the usual zionist stories but they are sure to pop up whenever we talk about the Middle East. that said, there are good stories as well among the Arabian counties.

its been a good learning experience for me specially with the help of our Arab members who have broken the stereo type we have. with your effective government and focused pursuit of knowledge and technology, you might be the leading country among the Muslims one day.
why that a surprise I ask myself and others? think Arabs when you think of the following names

Jabar Bin Hayan, Yahwa Bin Mansoor, Al Keemya, Al Jabr Wal Moqabila, Decimal system, eye surgery during European dark ages...

re submarines, if a certain partnership is agreed in sub building and engineers and technicians are cross trained then it will help a long in long way.

Yeah but one can't help but admire them Zionists !

Against overwhelming odds they managed to galvanize themselves into One Nation & then continued to not only defend it viciously but strengthen it & progress forwards much...much farther ahead than a whole plethora of countries in the world.

They are an educated & smart lot who've persevered long & hard under precarious & unfavorable conditions to achieve much that one can admire & respect if not appreciate & applaud.

Whoever they are & whatever their vices (and they are many) - They got their act together beautifully a long...long time ago whilst we've been crying 'Betrayal, Treachery & the other's Hypocrisy' long before even my Grandfather was born !

Iqbal could never have been more right & painfully so when he defined us Muslims as :

The Tou Aaba Woh Tumhare Hi, Magar Tum Kya Ho?
Hath Par Hath Dhare Muntazir-e-Farda Ho!

These were your great progenitors; You lack their brain and brawn;
You sit and wait in slothful ease for every morrow’s dawn.

ON TOPIC :

So was this more of a Counter-Terrorism Exercise which involved Naval Commandos from both sides or were there some proper ship-to-ship drills too to improve each other's performance ?

pak-navy-test-fires-missile-from-warship.jpg

yes they were
the last days of the exercise included missile firing. now its not clear if those missiles were cruise missiles fired at supposed terrorist hideouts or if they were meant for enemy vessels.

both navies wont be sending multi billion worth of naval vessels if its just counter terrorism exercise.

the Naseem Al Bahr Exercise between the two navies has evolved over a decade and this was the tenth, hence the name Naseem Al Bahr X. the Saudi Admiral is former PN graduate by the way.

the exercise has evolved over time and this was at a very advanced level. in short for easier reading

* It included surface, sub level, air , intel , mine clearing operations & training
* counter terrorism & convey protection from piracy was just one of the many elements
*it progressed from seminars, tactical planning to actual live training at surface, below surface & in the air.
*PAF was alo involved in exercise.

Kingdom and Pakistan should set up a high tech training facility for joint training like the one in jordan. It will be a win win for both sides.

@Mosamania

An advanced special forces training centre has already been opened in KSA some 7 months ago. It is a mountain warfare one however.
