How is the relationship with Jordan ?

How close are we with Jordan

I haven't sen an devolpment between the two countris since 2001

Do we have any military ties or is it just economics ?

.
Interesting question, I don't think there's anything to benefit from jordan.

Jordan's the kind of country, where the kings reveal arab military plans to Israeli knessets, just last week the current american educated self proclaimed king spoke to the Knesset saying that jordan and israel share the same enemies, Hamas, Hizbullah & Iran.

But i'm sure there must be some sort of relationship, though not as strong as the ones with surrounding nations.

Pakistan Air force pilots train the Jordanian Air force in fact in some cases the PAF pilots fly for Jordan Air force, in the Arab-Israel conflict Pakistani Air force piloted there fighter Aircracfts and didn't lose any planes of the Jordanian Air force they had plenty of kills during that era.

Plenty of training came and experience which PAF enjoys the pilots trained on the Jordanian fighter jets. Very close ties with Jordan and Pakistan.

Pakistan, Jordan discuss expanded defense ties

MIDDLE EAST NEWSLINE
Tuesday, September 10, 2002

AMMAN — Jordan and Pakistan have concluded a round of talks in an effort to expand defense and military relations.

The talks took place last month during the visit of Pakistani Chief of Staff. Gen. Mohammed Aziz Khan to Jordan. Khan met Jordanian military and political leaders during his stay.

Jordanian officials said Khan reviewed with his hosts defense and military relations. They said the two sides agreed to draft proposals to expand ties.

One proposal being examined, the officials said, would increase joint training and exercises. They said this would include the exchange of intelligence and military expertise.

Pakistan has appealed to Arab allies to expand military cooperation and purchase weapons and systems from Islamabad. Pakistan is said to have offered Gulf Cooperation Council states and other Arab countries help in establishing weapons production facilities.

The government plans to double the export target for weapons and ordnance from the existing $80-$85 million during 2003.

Officials said Jordan has expressed interest in expanding its production facilities in armored systems as well as establishing an assembly line for air and naval components. Jordan has launched joint cooperation for the coproduction of an infantry fighting vehicle with the United Arab Emirates, a key ally of Pakistan.

For its part, Pakistan has offered Jordan the Al Khalid tank and a range of armored personnel carriers. Islamabad has also been marketing the Talha APC.

Pakistan's state-owned Heavy Industries Taxila has developed the prototype of the Talha. The APC is nearly identical to the U.S. M113.

Pak keen to enhance economic, defence ties with Jordan: PM
Developing states need to reduce dependence on foreign aid, focus on trade

Islamabad—Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Thursday said Pakistan greatly valued its relationship with Jordan and was keen to expand the multifaceted bilateral cooperation in various fields including economic and defence spheres.
He was talking to Farouk Kasrawi, Special Advisor to King of Jordan who called on him here.
Prime Minister Aziz said there was tremendous scope to strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and Jordan as the two countries were bound together by shared faith and cultural values.
He said Pakistan was interested in strengthening relations in diplomatic, political, economic, social, cultural, defence and security fields as the two countries historically enjoyed close brotherly relations.
The prospects of increasing economic cooperation among the G-11 member countries, of which Pakistan and Jordan are founding members, and relations with other economic blocs came under discussion.
Shaukat Aziz said developing countries needed to reduce their dependence on foreign aid and focus more on increasing trade.
He said leadership of these countries should focus on introducing necessary reforms, improving governance, increasing trade, getting better market access and improving their productivity and competitiveness.
“Developing countries must show courage and managerial skills to accelerate growth, provide a better living standard and focus more on trade than aid,” the Prime Minister said.
He said the G-11 countries needed to leverage their strengths to secure enhanced market access through fair trade, increased Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) flows and access to technology.
He, however, said the countries that show the will to reform and move on must be supported through financial and technical assistance by the international community and added that Pakistan’s economic successes deserved encouragement and support of the international community.
On Middle East situation, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for an early resolution of Palestine issue in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Palestine and said sustainable peace in Middle East will not be possible without the resolution of this long standing issue.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan had been consistently supporting the just struggle of the people of Palestine and emphasized that OIC needs to play a more active role for the resolution of this issue. However, leadership has to come from within the region, the Prime Minister added.
Expressing his concern about situation in Iraq, the Prime Minister said Pakistan supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq and desires to see peace and stability there.
Farouk Kasrawi said Jordan attached great value to its relations with Pakistan and desired to further strengthen trade and economic ties.
He said the member countries of G-11 were facing similar challenges and Jordan was actively working to promote greater development cooperation and dialogue within the group as well as with other economic blocs to accelerate their economic growth and development.—APP

Despite being a neighbor to Israel I don't think Pakistan has much to offer in terms of defence products to this small Arab nation of six million people. Jordan has access to US defence market and flies ex-USAF F-16A/B.

Economic cooperation however is getting better:

Sino-Pakistan group gets Jordan contract

AMMAN, May 8: A consortium of Chinese-Pakistani-Jordanian companies has won a contract to build a railway aimed at relieving congestion in Amman, according to Jordanian Tranport Minister Saud Nusseirat.

“The consortium will build a railway line between Amman and Zarqa within two-and-a-half years at a cost of between 170 and 180 million dinars (240-255 million dollars),” the official Petra agency quoted Nusseirat as saying on Tuesday.

About half of Jordan's population of 5.7 million lives in Amman and Zarqa, which is 27 kilometres North of the capital. The new trains are set to carry 100,000 people a day.

Pakistan, Jordan ink bilateral cooperation agreement

Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Jordanian Prime Minister Marouf al- Bakhit signed an agreement Friday to expand cooperation in various fields.

Shaukat Aziz told reporters during the World Economic Forum on the Middle East that the agreement, titled "Pakistan-Jordan Strategic Dialogue," will provide a framework for boosting cooperation in various fields through discussions and expert-level consultations.

Jordanian experts in drip irrigation system technology will visit Pakistan to help increase agricultural production and Pakistan would also offer educational facilities to the Jordanian students, he said.

Marouf al-Bakhit, for his part, said the agreement would be helpful for the two countries to have more interaction and provide assistance to each other for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
