Pak, Iran Radios sign MoU for professional cooperation

ISLAMABAD - Radio Pakistan and Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at Broadcasting House here on Thursday to develop friendly cooperation in the field of radio broadcast.

Director General Radio Pakistan Murtaza Solangi and IRIB Vice President for Radio, Hossein Sufi singed the MoU. Under the MoU, the two organizations will arrange short-term training courses to improve the professional skills of their staff. They will also exchange production teams with the aim of producing programmes of cultural and historical backgrounds of the two countries. The two organizations will broadcast programmes from their radio channels on national days. The two sides will also take part in festivals, conferences and other radio forums besides cooperating in technical areas.
Welcoming the Iranian Radio delegation, Director General PBC, Murtaza Solangi said the people of the two countries are tied in bonds of religion, history, culture, and language. He said we enjoy unbreakable bonds and have great relationship with the people of Iran. He said it is high time for us to open doors of media for cooperation between the two countries. He expressed the hope that the visit of the Iranian delegation will open new vistas of cooperation between the two organizations.
Reciprocating, Vice President IRIB for Radio, Hossein Sufi said that two countries should further improve relations and cooperation in all fields of life. He urged media for provision of background material about the unique relationship between Pakistan and Iran to advance bilateral relations. He assured all out assistance and cooperation to Radio Pakistan on the behalf of Iranian Government and IRIB.
Director General PBC gave a presentation about News, NBS, Programme, Engineering and IT Wings of Radio Pakistan. He said sixty-five stations of Radio Pakistan are broadcasting news and programs all over the country to provide information, education, and entertainment to the masses. He said Radio Pakistan has the bigger listeners base than whole of the private radio channels. He said we are broadcasting 151 bulletins in 24 national, regional, local and foreign languages spreading over 400 minutes. He said tangible steps have been taken over the past two years for providing prompt, accurate, balanced, and comprehensive information to the people.
The Vice President IRIB, Hossein Sufi appreciated the presentation.
Later the Iranian delegation went round different sections in the Broadcasting House where the delegation members were briefed about their functioning.

Good step. Both countries need to work together against the propaganda demonising them emanating from common enemies in west
