Pak investigator wants country to admit mistakes about Mumbai attacks

Because of their built in hatred towards Pakistan, these Indians will now "prove" ISI's involvment, even when the article states nothing as such.
And Mr Satish Virma is not a "neutral source" for them on who revealed the involvment of Indian agencies in Mumbai attacks.

Forget ISI - many Pakistanis on this forum say that it was a falsge flag attack by RAW/Indian army/Amar Singh etc, and deny that Pakistanis had any role. At least can we agree that Pakistanis did it, and the attack was planned and co-ordinated from there? Or would you call the head of the FIA an Indian agent/Zionist etc?

What exactly is new in this article ? :what:

Anyone who's followed the 26/11 investigations by Pakistan knows this; what they also know is that the delay is due to legal complexities (inadmissibility of evidence, the absence of laws and inter-country legal frameworks) than anything nefarious on part of Pakistan ! Anyone who doesn't ought to give Ahmer Bilal Soofi - the man who followed this very closely - a listen or a read.

Yes. The all time jingoistic and war mongering Indian media would do drama would for a few days. But then it would be back to normal. Anyways article only shows Pakistani state's sincerity in its fight against terrorism unlike Indian state which is planning to use terrorists against terrorists.

‘You have to neutralise terrorist through terrorist only,’ says Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar | The Indian Express

Nothing wrong in terrorizing terrorists. But killing unarmed civilians is dastardly. Or do you think terrorists should be nurtured and mollycoddled, not terrorized?

No need to wonder. There is nothing new in this article. No state involvement proved or accepted as you guys accuse. Just a few non state actors who acted on their own and Pakistani state sincerely investigated to find out who was behind these attacks. PPP govt back in 2008-09 accepted involvement of a few non state actors like Ajmal Kasab was a Pakistani etc. So nothing new in this article.

We don't expect your investigators to suggest state involvement, that bit manifested itself when your government did it's very best to prevent KSA from extraditing Abu Jundal, even claiming that he was Pakistani. When KSA ignored that claim after India produced DNA evidence, Pakistan mysteriously backed off from that claim when it realised the game was up and suddenly said that Jundal was Indian & had no connection to Pakistan. Like KSA decides who is Pakistani or not......

What we have here is an admission that a major terror attack on India was planned & executed by Pakistani nationals of a terrorist group. That is enough since it demolishes all other claims that India's claim was not true, it was a "false flag" operation etc. Terrorists operating from within your country means that the state bears the responsibility of having to deal with them and the group involved. That admission having been made, your government & your country have no excuses.

Forget Indian muslims, seems like one of their own has gone off script here. (though somehow I wonder whether this is deliberate, the guy is too senior to suddenly go off script what with all the attendant risks that brings)

That won't bother them, they will simply state that the Director General of their premier investigative agency is an Indian agent.

Deliberate by whom?

Did he say anything extra which PPP govt had not said at that time?
Anyways, this news will make your anchors shout and whine for only a couple of days.

This news from someone this senior is pretty damning. You chaps are left with no choice after this. He clearly proved that there was enough evidence dug by Pakistani investigators themselves that nail the accused.

Deliberate by whom?

Just wondering (pure guess) whether this is something that flows from the Ufa contact. Is the ground being prepared for some limited action etc....

Terrorists should be terrorized by state security forces. No new terrorist should be created to terrorize as Parrikar likes to do. Or else who knows the newly created terrorists might turn out to be new LTTE and kill your own PM.

And yes killing unarmed civilians is dastardly. Hopefully Indian forces on IB and LOC would learn this lesson of morality and stop cowardly targeting unarmed civilians in ceasefire violations.

Fine, that is all that we are asking Pakistanis to admit. Do a search for "mumbai drama" on the forum to see how many thousands of posts assert that 26/11 was an Indian conspiracy, and Ajmal Kasab was an Indian.

Lest we go down the earlier path, let me clarify that I am only talking about the ostrichy behaviour of many Pakistanis on this forum, not of the govt or official position of Pakistan. Officially Pakistan admitted as much that very year.

Pretty rich, coming from the people who invented the term "non state actors".

Tell your army to face and fight the Indian army if they want Kashmir, rather than sending "non state actors" and "lashkars" and "mujahids". Tell them to wear their uniform and face their enemy, rather than coming in mufti with non state actors, like in Kargil.

BTW, do I need to remind you how many Pakistani PMs have been killed by your own "strategic assets"? Benazir Bhutto was killed quite recently, compared to Rajiv Gandhi. But let's overlook that, shall we?

In this November 26, 2008 photo, a gun-wielding Ajmal Kasab walks through the Chatrapathi Sivaji Terminal railway station in Mumbai.

Kasab was Pakistani, 26/11 attackers trained in Sindh, says Tariq Khosa, ex-chief of Pakistan's top probe body - The Hindu

Former chief of Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency Tariq Khosa says, "Pakistan has to deal with the Mumbai mayhem, planned and launched from its soil."
Islamabad must admit its mistakes for allowing Pakistani terrorists to sail to Mumbai in 2008 and carry out a massacre, a retired Pakistani official said in remarks published on Tuesday.

“Pakistan has to deal with the Mumbai mayhem, planned and launched from its soil,” Tariq Khosa, a former director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), wrote in Dawn newspaper.

“This requires facing the truth and admitting mistakes,” he said. “The entire state security apparatus must ensure that the perpetrators and masterminds of the ghastly terror attacks are brought to justice.”

Mr. Khosa said the case had lingered on for far too long.

He said dilatory tactics by the defendants, frequent change of trial judges and the assassination of the case prosecutor as well as retracting from original testimony by some key witnesses had proved to be serious setbacks for the prosecutors.

Ten Pakistani terrorists sneaked into Mumbai from the sea in November 2008 and massacred 166 Indians and foreigners in an attack that almost brought the two countries to war.

One of the terrorists, Ajmal Kasab, was caught and later hanged in India. Security forces killed the others. Islamabad initially denied any links with the attackers but later admitted that Kasab and the masterminds were Pakistani nationals.

Mr. Khosa pointed out that Kasab was a Pakistani and that the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists who attacked Mumbai were trained near Thatta in Sindh and launched by sea from there.

“The training camp was identified and secured by the investigators. The casings of the explosive devices used in Mumbai were recovered from this training camp and duly matched.

“Third, the fishing trawler used by the terrorists for hijacking an Indian trawler in which they sailed to Mumbai was brought back to harbour, then painted and concealed. It was recovered by the investigators and connected to the accused.

“Fourth, the engine of the dinghy abandoned by the terrorists near Mumbai harbour contained a patent number through which the investigators traced its import from Japan to Lahore and then to a Karachi sports shop from where an LeT-linked militant purchased it along with the dinghy. The money trail was followed and linked to the accused who was arrested.

“Fifth, the ops room in Karachi, from where the operation was directed, was also identified and secured by the investigators. The communications through Voice over Internet Protocol were unearthed.

“Sixth, the alleged commander and his deputies were identified and arrested. Seventh, a couple of foreign-based financiers and facilitators were arrested and brought to face trial,” Mr. Khosa said.

The retired official said that the Mumbai case was unique and that proving conspiracy in a different jurisdiction was more complex and required a far superior quality of evidence.

“Therefore, the legal experts from both sides need to sit together rather than sulk and point fingers.”

Mr. Khosa asked: “Are we as a nation prepared to muster the courage to face uncomfortable truths and combat the demons of militancy that haunt our land?”

These are findings of former FIA chief was chief investigator appointed by Pakistan for 26/11. No wonder any Pakistani friend is yet to respond at this topic

Actually this is new nothing new. It is just 2010 rewritten in this article. PPP government already said that a few non state actors might be involved in the attacks just like a few Uzbeks belonging to Islamic movement of Uzbekistan were involved in several terror attacks in Pakistan. But that doesn't mean Uzbekistan itself as a state is involved in those attacks. Abu Jandal was an Indian national and again has nothing to do with Pakistani and or Indian state. He was working on his own with a few Pakistani nationals. Just like Indian state failed to nab Abu Jandal before Mumbai attacks, same goes for Pakistan.

As for false flag, Pakistani state never called Mumbai attacks a false flag. It was just a few analysts or journalists and they definitely don't represent the official position of Pakistani state.

Your claim that we have no excuse left is laughable. Our main excuse was that ISI or any other state institution was not involved in these attacks and nothing has changed to disrepute or reject that. Pakistani state is definitely not involved in these attacks.

Ma'am when you've got the level of animosity and mistrust between two countries as we do these things happen; after all not long ago we had one of your top politicians claiming that the ISI funds Bollywood movies while the State Apparatus was nabbing a Pakistani pigeon masquerading as our very own desi 007 !

What we have issues with is the Indian intransigence to admit that Pakistan and Pakistanis don't have a monopoly over Crazy Statements - Not by a long shot !

And an equally ostrichy behaviour was displayed by many Indians during the Samjhota Express bombings - Use the Search Button - so lets not get into that 'earlier path' !

Last Updated: Tuesday, August 4, 2015 - 15:41

New Delhi: Pakistan has not yet handed over to India voice sample of eight persons accused of conspiracy in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.

Minister of State for Home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary told Lok Sabha that the voice sample of eight persons accused of conspiracy in the Mumbai terror attack was sought through a Letter Rogatory from Pakistan.

"Pakistan has not executed the letters rogatory till now. The government has raised this issue with Pakistan in many fora like the Home/Interior Minister, Secretary level talks, Foreign Secretary level talks," he said in reply to a written question.
