ISLAMABAD, Oct 22 (APP): Relations between Pakistan and India have been never so good in sixty years as today, the Foreign Office spokesman said on Monday in a weekly press briefing. The spokesman said conflict resolution, nuclear restraint and conventional balance were the three inter-related elements which were required for strengthening Pakistan-India relations. He said the domestic situation in either Pakistan or India would not affect their relations. (Posted @ 19:06 PST)

It is correct.

It could be even better.

It will take time though.

thats interesting Dude can't you specify it more.....i think only the relations of both the government are on the smooth road but people of both the countries are similar as they were in 1947. however the relation of government are sometimes face hurdles when there is any bomb blast......means the bundle of blames throw on one another.

At least the feeling is not so with the majority in India.

The most visual example of the same I can illustrate is the Reality shows like the Indian Idol, Sa Re Ga Ma etc, where Indian audience are voting Pakistani singers to the finals! If the animosity was that great as you claim, the Pakistani singers, in the first place, would not be allowed, and secondly, even if allowed, they would never have reached the finals!

I, ofcourse, cannot speak about the Pakistani people, but I feel that there is a thaw and not what you state.

Bombs blast in India regularly these days. It has become a way of life. Of course, there will be momentary anger fanned by the media, but it in no way indicates that the common man is responsible, since he is but a victim of the terrorists, who are bent on ensuring that there is no rest between the two countries!

But the people shall overcome these terrorists.

Have faith in the people. Amongst the many insane, there a a vast majority that is pragmatic and sane!

60 years is a long period of time for people to realise how fruitless animosity can be.

there is no other choice - if India wants to be the economic superpower in this region, then it has to have peace with all its neighbours. if Pakistan wants to create a better life for its people, then it has to have peace with all its neighbours. we need to have a EU type economic free zone thru SAARC platform. Pakistan should unilaterally give MFN (most favoured nation) status to India.

Fatman,

You are absolutely right.

Not only Pakistan or India, all nations must follow a give and take and South Asia will become an economic workhorse of the world.

Our people will prosper and borders will be only on the maps!

Its reality for prosperous India it need passage through Pakistan.

There is nothing to cheer about the better relations. They are just few words coming up from here and there about relationship getting better whereas the reality is both the countries still see the other as a threat. The weapons are built keeping the other side in mind. Destabilization is done. How can this lead to a better relationship. A simple example: If i tell my neighbour that we are friends and so we should live peacefully and the next day i buy a gun keeping him in mind, so what impression will he get, obiviously he will not take it a friendly gesture rather will buy like it to counter it. So this will automatically make relations tense between us. Here we are talking about too different countries based on entirely different idelogies, most important fought four wars, and the reason the wars were fought is still there. So to say we are going for a better relationship is nothing more then BS, its just an exchange of beautiful words between the two nations. In actual the fact is india thinks pakistan is behind every bomb blast in india while pakistan says india is involved with anti state elements to destabilize pakistan.

Icecold,

There is nothing to cheer about people of your mindset, either.

You want to live in a timewrap.

Live in hatred and animosity and drag yourself and all around down.

Heard of the story and the crabs in a pail? They also do not allow any crab to go out of the pail and pulls down the one trying to!

You really want peace, lets have a vote in kashmir then we can be friends and live happily ever after.
If you dont....then you are the enemy.

Why should we?

Have a vote in Baluchistan , Balwaristan, NWFP (Pakhtoonistan) on autonomy and independence and we shall talk.

You can't have your cake and eat it too, even though that is what you always suggest!

Add to it, the Shia Sunni wonderment and the Ahmediyas and minorities and the fun will start!

Friend, understand life is very complicated.

There is no easy solutions.

No one is 100% happy!

That would be utopia.

If all Moslems were united, there would not be the problems of the Middle East or the Sunni Shia divide and riots the world over.

Neither would people of the forum not get so active as with other issues, when Iran is up crap creek!

See reality!

One can't live in the dream world!

Theres no UN ruling on the issue.

Its such a small price to pay for peace that last forever.

Who care about the UN.

Since you are such a rooter for Freedom and Democracy, just give them the space and chance!

Peace is expensive.
