Pak. in a losing nuclear race :EDITORIAL: New York Times

Pakistan's nukes aren't portable , they have limited range . If U.S. or co wanted they could do a full on invasion tomorrow & you won't be able to hit them . Even if you tried their nukes will reach you first long before your scrambled fighter jets reach the continent with warheads .

So yes ,Pakistan don't need to be bleed, it can be defeated by conventional warfare.

lol, You keep dreaming about US invading Pakistan and then giving you free cake, you won't be around for the free cake if that ever happens, that's guaranteed.

? Didn't you just say if a super power attacks Pakistan they will seize to exist .
kid , do you even understand what you are arguing about ?

.
You guys aren't nuclear "power" , you are a country that makes a lot small tactical nukes out of insecurity. Since India massively overwhelms in conventional warfare & economy .
Who needs certificates from idiots like you to be a nuclear power. We are a nuclear power, we know this reality causes so much pain in your as.....s but face the hard reality.

for **** sakes man , you have freaking 3 nuclear reactors . You are a lesser nuclear power than Hungary (that has 4 reactors) .nuclear WMD technology have been used since world war 2.

The percentage of nuclear power in national grid is more or less the same for India and Pakistan.

We have 3 operational reactors, unlike any other Muslim country and 2 more will become operational this year and 2 more of 1100 MW each are under construction.
Go and do your mental farting else where.

The fact that you assumed India will make pak bleed proves how insecure you are , I never said my country will bleed you.
Typical butt hurt indian with his oral masturbation.
It is infact Pakistan who is bleeding India more using its proxies.

USA attack Afghanistan, Vietnam, Iraq and many others in last 6 decades and all these countries are still there despite not being nuclear power.

We don't want any dispute or war, but we know how to bleed the enemy as....s if they finger us.

Call a ambulance & get some help kid ,getting this butthurt on a random internet post . I stand by my facts .

The percentage of nuclear power in national grid is more or less the same for India and Pakistan.
Wtf kind of retarded logic is that ? India is the 4th biggest electricity producer in the world , with that kind of power production , it wouldn't matter India had 100 nuclear reactors .

China's nuclear electricity is 2% of its total power grid .

Hell India produces 13x more electricity than Pakistan .****

Comparing to muslim countries is not the definition of nuclear power . You have less reactors than slovakia .
Go and do your mental farting else where.

What do I look like 9 find someone else to fight with .
Typical butt hurt indian with his oral masturbation.
K , enjoy the ban .
It is infact Pakistan who is bleeding India more using its proxies.

Good for you.
You are probably the first member I've met tmthat acknowledged Pakistan's state sponsored terrorism with a indian .

USA attack Afghanistan, Vietnam, Iraq and many others in last 6 decades and all these countries are still there despite not being nuclear power.

Afghanistan is U.S. puppet .
U.S. withdrew from Vietnam due to internal politics
Iraq was annexed & sadan was executed within 7 months .

I don't need to vouch for USA anyone who thinks USA can't annex Pakistan is in a whole another reality of delusions .

We don't want any dispute or war, but we know how to bleed the enemy as....s if they finger us.
Funny that history says otherwise .

At present, Pakistan is spending about 25 per cent of its budget on defence.
This figure can't possibly be true.
Pakistan spends a around 3-4% of its GDP on defence
and the budget is barely $7 billion

I think it was about 15% or so of GDP for fy 2015-16

Nope it is not, nor has it ever been that high.
Pakistan still spends more as percentage of gdp in south asia except afghanistan, but it has never been above 6% forget the double digit percentage.

In an editorial published on November 7, the American daily said Islamabad’s competition with India, “which is adding to its own nuclear arsenal, is a losing game”. At present, Pakistan is spending about 25 per cent of its budget on defence. Reining in its nuclear operations would be in the country’s long-term interest, the editorial said. “It cannot provide adequate services for its citizens” because of the huge allocation for defence.
Pakistan’s official position is that it needs more nuclear weapons to counter India’s conventional arsenal. It’s expected to become the world’s third largest nuclear power with as many as 120 warheads, behind the U.S. and Russia.
Last month, Pakistan Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhary had told a news briefing in Washington that Islamabad had built low-yield nuclear weapons, or tactical nuclear weapons, “to counter Indian aggression”. Such weapons “are more likely to be used in a conflict with India and could more easily fall into the hands of terrorists…,” added the editorial.
The NYT has also urged the U.S. to keep trying to reach a deal with Pakistan aimed at reining in its nuclear programme.
“The major world powers spent two years negotiating an agreement to restrain the nuclear ambitions of Iran, which doesn’t have a single nuclear weapon. Yet there has been no comparable investment of effort in Pakistan, which, along with India, has so far refused to consider any limits at all.”
The Obama administration has begun talks with Islamabad in this regard. But a nuclear deal similar to the one with India is not on the cards. American officials “are discussing what Pakistan needs to do to justify American support for its membership in the 48-nation Nuclear Suppliers Group, which governs trade in nuclear fuel and technology.”
At present, Pakistan is not an internationally recognised nuclear power. The father of the country’s nuclear weapons programme, A.Q. Khan, has been accused of providing nuclear technologies to countries such as North Korea and Iran.
Recently, former Iranian President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani had said in an interview that Tehran had received nuclear centrifuges from Pakistan.
It is worth noting that the NYT editorial comes at a time when tensions are running high between India and Pakistan. The editorial also criticises Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not doing anything “to engage Islamabad on security issues, and he also bears responsibility for current tensions
Yeah, India may have larger stocks of fissile material, may steal even more of that, and produce more bombs. But USSR had similar superiority over US/Europe during the cold war. India is much weaker internally where nuke scientists/engineers are more vulnerable than in any other country. Nuke material are routinely reported for being stolen in India. Members of a few insurgencies (out of dozens of active insurgencies) in India can resort to acquiring and using nuke material against Indian state. US better worry more for the safety of Indian nuke assets rather than talking non-sense about Pak nuke program. We are not in nuke race with Indians. Our nukes are meant purely for our defense and we know how to inflict massive destruction on the enemy if case of any aggression against us.

the editorial said. “It cannot provide adequate services for its citizens” because of the huge allocation for defence.

And.....the Indians can provide adequate services for its citizens? A country where over 600 million people don't even have proper sanitation to go to bathroom and cleanup correctly?? Or you could be killed if you ate beef, and this is the value of human life??

Its shameful to read this stupid articles written by or paid by the Indian lobby in the US. And the American public won't search for true answers. They'll believe in whatever you show them on a screen or on a paper. Sad how the media uses everyone for their purposes!

India tried and were given a stand off reply. Being big on paper doesn't mean it can deliver such a punch. You have to be active to deliver and sorry to say India is a bit rusty in everything, so no possibility of any provocation by them.

@Hyperion

Just a thought came in my mind..

How the hell Russia with her 1.1 trillion economy (nominal) is able to create and maintain a credible nuclear deterrence against United States with thousands of nuclear warheads, diversified delivery systems, MIRVed weapons, and what not?

If Russkies can do it, why can't the rest of world such as India, Pakistan, and so on? ( I know Russians have been way more advanced but I'm talking about the situation in next few decades)...

Contrary to the popular belief, Russian nuclear arsenal and capability is nowhere near as impressive as it seems to be on paper.

Americans whinning as usual, Indians cheerleading them... as usual.

Hasn't the world (or just the US/Hindustan axis) learnt that Pakistan started its nuclear program all the way back 1974, no one was able to stop it back then and no one is going to stop it in the future come what may.

Only way Pakistan will lose its nukes would be by depleting all of them on India.
I don't recall any country doing something significant to stop our nuclear program.

In-fact, Ronald Reagan adopted a soft corner towards Pakistan's nuclear ambitions after witnessing the split-up of Pakistan during 1971 due to Indian intervention. He did not attempt to stop the flow of necessary parts and equipment into Pakistan for its nuclear ambitions. Pakistan benefited even more from being an ally of USA during war in Afghanistan.

NYT is one of the best sites for news , Idk why here users are saying a bad site .
Its bad when one of its articles doesn't gives pro-Pakistani vibe. It will be good when one of its articles will give anti-Indian vibe. This is all subjective.

NYT is reputable news outlet. Credit where due.

Hurray, India crossed 300GW of electricity by last month and with upcoming addition of power from Nuclear plants as well.Pakistan hardly producing 20GW, but their concentration always lyes on Nuclear war heads, wrong priorities. Now a days not much by indians talking about India nuclear missiles, neither americans or russians for their own as bolstering such claims is too childish.India adding much more electricity in a year than whole production of pakistan.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electricity_sector_in_India

One have to understand that India is the 3rd largest producer of electricity and growing faster as rising economy and many villages are still to be connected. We are utilizing Nuclear power in a right direction and future nuclear fuel like thorium have large deposits in india, infact india is having the worlds biggest deposits of thorium.India has a vision of becoming a world leader in nuclear technology due to its expertise in fast reactors and thorium fuel cycle. It aims to supply 25% of electricity from nuclear power by 2050.Worlds first thorium based plant will built in India

So yes India is far ahead in Nuclear technology......
