A Pakistan high commission official has been detained in the capital by Delhi Police for espionage.




According to TV reports, the official was on Pakistan envoyAbdul Basit's staff and was in possession of highly classified army-related documents.

I'm afraid it's not applicable, not if under espionage charge and that too with solid proof (if any). You might have to revisit the norms of Geneva convention for diplomatic immunity.

How do Pakistanis know that he was innocent? Consular staff routinely engages in espionage and when caught that person is declared persona non grata and ejected from the host nation.
