Pak High Commission Staffer held for Espionage

But your military did lot of bad to the nation. Instead of saving the nation, condemned it to endless cycles of violence.

Refer the original line of thought. What bad did the military do? The answer's right in front of you..

The military saved the nation. A lot of the internal problems in Pakistan were caused by outside, foreign forces who were opposed to Pakistan or our existence. The army did well to contain this otherwise Pakistan could have ended up like Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria or Libya.

Your army let your soil be used for terrorism, to gain a foothold in Afghanistan and Kashmir, not to save your nation from any threat or problem.

Internal problems cannot be blamed on other countries. In the years of army rule, why didn't the army remove these "internal problems"?

They are being done now ruthlessly and efficiently..........

The damage is well and truly being reversed. These things are never permanent.

Nothing is permanent in this world. But it has been damaging to your nation for the last few decades, and will continue to do so for the next few decades. After half a century of violence even if you're able to stop it, then still the army has damaged your nation for at least half a century.

Thanks for opening up our eyes. Perhaps you can take the same advice and apply that on current hyper nationalistic regime that is in India. I am sure you can vote them out, no ?

Depends on how well the army can contain the situation and the changing geopolitical circumstances of Pakistan. Although it doesn't affect india, the war in Syria has had a bad affect on us. It has pegged back and delayed strengthening our bilateral relationship with Turkey to the levels we enjoy with China. This will indeed affect our progess. Assad refuses to go and the rebels refuse to backdown.

Arrest of Pakistani diplomat by India is against all norms of diplomacy and it is a clear violation of Vienna Convention. Indians are committing all these acts out of desperation.

Pakistan will continue the diplomatic support of Kashmiris at every forum. State Youth Parliament shows its grave concern on unprovoked Indian shelling at LoC and Working Boundary. We also demand government to raise the issue of Pakistani diplomat to Delhi on international forums.

Government is showing illogical restrain on Indian terrorism. Whole nation demands a strong jaw breaking reply against India.

.
It actually doesn't. Take it from someone who has more than 200 Pakistani friends, they mostly blame the army for radicalization of their otherwise originally liberal society, and advent of terror. IndoPak comparisons always crop up during conversations. They always say that India is more liberal and less affected by terror today than Pakistan just because of the policies pursued during army rule. You can't appropriate the entire Pakistani population in your own personal opinion about the army. Sure there a lot of people who love Pakistan army and are army fanboys for various reasons. We have similar fanboys in India too. Sure the ratio of fanboys in Pakistan to overall population would be more than their similar counterparts in India. But to say the vast majority of population love the army is quite illogical. Else you would not have had any civil government's at all. Remember army doesn't impose it's rule thru ballot, by winning any mass elections, they do it by force.

I have a few Pakistani friends from my University days too. The first thing that surprised me in 1999 was that they were actually quite happy about the coup which deposed Sharif and Musharraf took over. A significant of them believe that a military overthrowing a civilian elected government is no big deal. Many were even surprised when the Vajpayee Govt. lost the election in 2004 and peacefully handed over power to the UPA - there had never been a peaceful transfer of power between political parties in Pakistan till then. Even now, the Pak Army is calling the shots and has a veto in Govt. decisions. The Indian Army and the Pak Army both enjoy a kind of blind adulation in their respective population - but the biggest difference is that a sizable number of Pakistanis see their Army as a genuine political player - no one in India does.

He initially did not identify himself as Pakistani - only after some "kadak tehkikaat" - probably a euphemism for being slapped around - he broke down and identified himself as a Pakistani staffer and the High Commission was duly informed.

How do Pakistanis know that he was innocent? Consular staff routinely engages in espionage and when caught that person is declared persona non grata and ejected from the host nation.
Given the timing i believe there is political motive.
People like these are very valuable from a counter-intelligence point of view.

If he was spying, he would not have diplomatic immunity.
He would, unless that person himself decided to drop his diplomatic immunity, like in the case of Italian diplomat.

In the past there has been a case of Pakistan diplomat despite possessing explosives merely being expelled.

Nepal expels Pakistan diplomat

First Secretary Chima (right) was arrested on Thursday
Nepal has expelled a senior Pakistani diplomat in connection with the seizure of a large amount of explosives in the capital, Kathmandu.
First Secretary Mohammad Arshad Chima and his wife had been detained on Thursday following a police raid on a private house, in which 16kg of explosives were recovered.

The Pakistani embassy in Kathmandu protested at the detention, saying Mr Chima and his wife were being framed.

Mr Chima is the second Pakistani diplomat to be expelled from Nepal in a year.

Explosives found

He and his wife were arrested when police raided the house where the explosives were found.

The Pakistani diplomat was on the premises at the time.

A spokesman for the Nepalese Foreign Ministry, Gyan Chandra Acharya, said Mr Chima's presence in the house was "incompatible with his diplomatic duties and inconsistent with international conventions".

Mr Acharya told the BBC that the Pakistani Government had assured Nepal that action would be taken against Mr Chima if investigations found him guilty.

Earlier, the Pakistani embassy protested at Mr Chima's detention and said the move violated international conventions.

"It is evident that elements hostile to Pakistan-Nepal friendship are responsible for this unfortunate episode," an official statement said, in what was seen as a veiled reference to India.

The embassy complained that it had been denied access to the couple, in violation of international diplomatic norms.

'Hostile' actions

Last year, Nepal expelled a Pakistani diplomat alleged to have been involved in dealing in counterfeit Indian currency.

In the past, Nepal has also arrested suspected Kashmiri militants in possession of explosives.

India alleges that Pakistani intelligence uses Nepal as a base to back Kashmiri militants and carry out subversive activities inside India.

Pakistan has denied the allegation.

The Nepalese authorities say they are determined to stop activities on their soil directed against any of the country's neighbours.

Not the first time a South Asian country has expelled a Pakistani diplomat for Espionage or terrorism related charges, won't be the last time either.

Nepal - 2001
Arshad Cheema expelled as he had helped IC -814 hijackers. Was caught with RDX in his basement.

Bangladesh - 2015
Pakistani diplomat running fake Indian currency racket, was involved with banned terrorist organisations.

India - 2016
Involved in espionage.

Something rotten has gotten into Pakistani diplomat corp , that they keep getting involved with terrorist or in espionage related activities against their host countries, I suspect it is the ISI.

Pakistan is expected to expel an Indian diplomat in tit for tat move, but that move has no actual significance.

As who ever Pakistan expels , and for what ever trumped up charges, is not the real reason Indian diplomat is being expelled for.
Just to add, there was second time a Pakistani diplomat was expelled from Nepal, exactly one year prior to 2001 expulsion.

The allegations involved Indian currency deals

Nepal has ordered the expulsion of a Pakistani diplomat allegedly involved in counterfeit currency dealings.

The Nepalese Foreign Ministry said Asim Saboor, the assistant secretary at the Pakistani mission in Kathmandu, had been ordered to leave within 72 hours.

A statement said: "Asim Saboor was involved in acts incompatible with his status. He was therefore was ordered to leave Kathmandu."

Nepalese police took Mr Saboor into custody on Monday following a raid on his residence.

They say they are questioning him about his possible involvement in a counterfeit Indian currency deal.

Police sources claim they have caught Mr Saboor in the act of conducting a transaction with the fake money.

He is alleged to have been in possession of counterfeit Indian banknotes worth about $1,150.

The Pakistani embassy refused to agree to a Nepalese request to waive Mr Saboor's diplomatic immunity.

The embassy says the police raid was carried out without a proper search warrant and that no evidence against Mr Saboor was found.

According to the BBC's Sushil Sharma in Kathmandu, local analysts say the expulsion coincides with Indian allegations that Pakistani intelligence services are using Nepal as a base against India.

India stepped up the allegations following the last month's hijacking of an Indian Airlines plane which took off from Kathmandu.

Thanks for opening up our eyes. Perhaps you can take the same advice and apply that on current hyper nationalistic regime that is in India. I am sure you can vote them out, no ?

The hyper nationalistic regime is a civilian regime, and will be toppled by due democratic process involving ballot boxes.

It will not be toppled by a military coup by the Indian army, like a banana republic.

The current hyper nationalism by our government is only to divert attention from the failing to deliver on electoral promises regarding the economy, and other issues like agricultural neglect and upcoming state elections.

If that opens your eyes further, you're most welcome.

Other countries can't be held responsible for your army's own failings. The real world doesn't work that way.

I have a few Pakistani friends from my University days too. A significant of them believe that a military overthrowing a civilian elected government is no big deal. I know. But I see that more as a love for their nation vs love for the army. Since the army has been in power for a major part of their history, it is only natural that the rulers have indoctrinated the subjects thru propaganda. Similar to the indoctrination by the Indian national Congress, because they ruled for a major part of our history.

It is only in recent years that both narratives in both countries have started being questioned by the people. The thing is people in India question more openly because more freedom of speech is there in India. People in Pakistan have less freedom of this kind, so they question it more privately than publicly.

But all Pakistanis I've met, do blame the wrong decisions taken during the years of army rule, that have led to thousands of terrorism related deaths, and it's financial consequences leading to political and economic turmoil.

Sad. While babus run the country like Banana republic and take wrongful credit of Hanuman army. You must immediately do something

I agree, but I hope that you noticed that there's a distinct difference between babus running the country like a banana republic and actually being a banana republic, where the constitution is changed at the drop of a hat whenever a general feels like changing it.

Big countries have large populations, so by default they have quite a few idiots too, like the Hanuman idiot, or the minister idiot who keeps threatening to use nuclear bombs thinking they are Chinese firecrackers, and his own country will be protected from nuclear retaliation by God's magical and supernatural force field.

Typical Indian rant with no Substance. For once please go and read the entire history as to what leads to the event that Forces Army to intervene. The very Civil Govt calls them. Which itself is no democratic. But then again Do I really have to prove something to you ? I dont think so
