Yes, it must be understood that at the time of independence itself, Muslims had a lower literacy and social level than their Hindu counterparts. Much of the small middle class also migrated to Pakistan. So their base was much lower.

Second, Pakistan has this disparity in social and educational level among various ethnicities. West of the Sindhu is much backwards due to historical reasons and their peculiar social customs. I don't think you will say that it is a grand conspiracy by the Pakistani state to keep them socially and educationally backwards.

Pretty much the same dynamics apply in India for the relatively backwardness of Muslims. Though it is debatable if they are more socially and educationally backwards than the Pakistani Muslims.

The Indian system, so far, has not managed to throw up enough quality local leaders, who tend to be thugs and musclemen more often than not.

Pakistan has slightly worse literacy than India for the sole reason that when Pakistan and India were formed in 1947, Pakistan was already less educated than India, because education in British India was centred in places like Delhi and Bengal. Pakistan has risen in literacy at the same pace as India has which is why you see Pakistan and India obtaining nukes and other educational milestones at the same time.

To believe that Indians are progressing at a faster rate than Pakistanis in the field of education is just fiction.

It's not true of course that indian Muslims are culturally lazier. It's just that the Hindus are subjugating the Indian Muslims through discrimination, which begins from when the children enter the school system

The Indian government does not build schools in predominantly Muslim areas, therefore Indian Muslims do not get access to the same level of education as Indian Hindus. One only need look at all the Muslim countries with 100% literacy, or at Pakistan's education progress, to see that Indians are not progressing at a faster rate than Muslims in the field of education.

Nope....all MPs and MLAs are allotted funds for their constituencies. Now its entirely upto the politician whether he returns the money back to the public in the form of amenities or he puts it into his private bank account.

Herein lies the problem - votebank politics. People will not vote based on how their public money has been used. They will vote on the basis of religion, caste, language, tribe etc. etc.
Which means that the politician who blames the "other" for the problems of his community most effectively wins the votes.

So if muslims are poor, its because they are discriminated. If Hindus are poor, its because they are discriminated. If gujjars are poor, its because the government favours the Scheduled Tribes.
No community is willing to think constructively and solve their own problems.
