I think America will sell you just F-35A with or without technology transfer but somewhere in 2030 or maybe later.................. because 3000 planes are already ordered.... if 300 aircraft will assemble in a year ............. than ten years or more to end these orders................. so other possible options for IAF would be:

US has made it clear that US would not transfer any technology to India neither for the F-16s nor for the F-35s.

US proposed to sell F-16s to India but IAF wants to procure F-35s instead.

Recently Trump has given go ahead to LM to obtain additional/new customers for F-35s. India GCC are the likely candidates to be on the list. This is due to decrease in orders from the current customers.

Vivek Lall has recently joined LM. He was previously with Boeing and General Atomics and was instrumental & successful in closing the deals between US & India.

Khawaja Asif is nill even something below that.

But all of the rest from your post has chances.

I did not mean that he would negotiate the deal but he would be preparing the ground for PAF chief to close the deal.

It's all speculative stage at this though.

If this story by Ajai Shukla is true, then even India is in a hard place as far as choosing next gen fighter program partner is concerned. PAF always had only choice i.e. China. It would be interesting to see how things unfold on F-35 front for IAF.

This has been reported by multiple news outlets. Indian is going for F-35s. Vivek Lall who was instrumental in closing the US-India deals with Boeing and General Atomics in the last few years has recently joined LM and is the brain behind this deal. Russia is already looking for a new partner to replace India for PAK-FA.

The strategic alliances at global and our regional levels are changing - no question about that. But if the reshuffle reaches to that point, it'll entail a lot of other interesting stuff too. For example, Russians can not only drag back from further cooperation with Indians (nuclear, missiles, tanks, sub-marines, etc. to be among the effected areas) but also share vital information to the new alliance members (including China and Pakistan) that would allow the latter to counter Indian systems more effectively. It's all speculative stage at this though.

It has been in the works many years now. Modi has not signed a single deal of significance with Russia in the last 4 years.

Tbh, the one in the deepest trouble is Russia. India is the only reliable partner for them with money. They'd nuke themselves for honour before giving Su57 tech to China.

As for India, AMCA is guaranteed and we've the luxury to choose between Su57 and F35. Perhaps both since F35 is getting really cheap and suits our SEF requirement.

Pakistan has nothing to worry either since J31 is meant to be Azm, whatever its capability.

Not really. O&G prices are going up again. There won't be any JV or ToT or MII for F-35 like India would get from FGFA deal but IAF & Modi do not like Russians. Hence the F-35. One main advantage F-35 would have is the cost. At $80 million a piece it would be cheaper than RAFALEs.

They have taken advantage of us over the years and have proven to be increasingly exploitative as they know that orders from India is guaranteed.

They do it to every customer that is too dependent on them and pakistanis hoping it'll be different for them don't know things like we do, the starting price itself will sink your hearts and your defence budgets.

We still don't know if the FGFA will be cancelled but if it does and the F-35 is chosen then Russia has only itself to blame.

Americans are yet to earn our trust, but one thing you can do is trust them to make a legitimately offensive and financially viable weapon system out of the F-35, they are after all market leaders in this category.

Russians definitely need to learn to be less exploitative after sales. But with Americans, exploitation come in the form of defense agreements.

It's very unlikely that Pakistan is looking to buy any big ticket item from Russia in near future but i could be wrong.
Pakistan so far has not really shown any interested in Russian fighter, at least nothing officially. We would like to have 2 squadron of Su-35xx for stop gap purpose until 5th generation project start to take shape.
