Pak Breaks Indian Monopoly over Vehicle Supply to Lanka

It's not about gifting or breaking monopoly or something, it's about begging to differ from the author who thinks that way. So have your say in that regard, there's no point making comments on Pakistanis.

All fair points if the OP hadn't faked the last line of the post to make it sound like a part of the article :)

"but now all types of trucks, vehicles are bought from Pakistan."

An honest observation: I thought SL was doing much better economy wise that Pakistan. The gift, should have been from SL to Pakistan - its not like Pakistan is giving weapons grade stuff (that Pakistan has more experience and skill with). Did SL ask for this? was there a tender involved? or was this just a symbolic gesture from Pak?

Probably armoured? And yes Pak in the past did supply weapons to SL army to deal with ltte scumbags.: apart from tht PAF pilots,SSG,military advisors were also involved in the operations .. Not to forget SL military also trains at our military institutes.

Pakistan has gifted vehicle to Srilanka same as he gifted terrorist to the world.

You gifted them ltte .. @Aeronaut @Oscar

In mean time........

Auto/Bus/Truck Monopoly in Pakistan & Future Cars Entry

Well it is not easy to compete Indians in automobile industries..... The current prices of Indian automobiles exported are high as every indian company make huge profits in export. When it comes to competition these companies will start under cutting and then it will be difficult....

respect large hearted pakis. Thank you for helping our brothers to the south

The LTTE's defeat has much more to do with India backing out of supporting them due to what transpired during IPKF and Rajiv Gandhi's killing than anything else.

Pak Breaks Indian Monopoly over Vehicle Supply to Lanka

By P K Balachandran - COLOMBO

Pakistan on Wednesday broke the Indian monopoly over the supply of transport vehicles to the Sri Lankan armed forces and the police by gifting a hundred Toyota Corolla (Altis) cars to the security forces.

The handing over ceremony was graced by the Lankan Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the Army Commander Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Inspector General of Police N K Illangakoon, Pakistan High Commissioner Major General (Retired) Qasim Qureshi and officials of the Karachi-based manufacturer Indus Motors.

Indus Motors has been making Toyota and Daihatsu vehicle in Pakistan from 1990.

Previously, the Lankan security forces bought vehicles mostly from Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra and Ashok Leyland of India but now all types of trucks, vehicles are bought from Pakistan.

Of course! Any gift is good news!!! And needless to say, those dozen odd cars gifted to Srilankan armed forces will obviously be allotted to the top brass for use as their staff cars!! Will Pakistan gift them some drivers too???
