PA has a requirement for both new long and short range SAM/AA systems, it has been testing some for a while. They almost bought Pantsir but Russia backed out of the deal, now they’re looking for a replacement, maybe it will be a Chinese one.

VT-4 is only getting started, there are a lot more to come. It will be replacing all the Type 59s and 69s. That’s nearly 600 tanks.

The next iteration of AK is to start production After AK-1 deliveries are done in around 2 years. We have a rough idea of what we’re expecting to see on it, not sure if it will be called the AK-2 yet. However for an APS, we cannot make one. Our best bet is to purchase them from China (and I believe we will, but only after all the older tanks are retired and PAs fleet has reached a size at which they want to stop). Those are expensive but very effective upgrades.
Check the Al-Khalid and VT-4 threads for more info :)
Pakistani t59s are upgraded though right? You guys could just keep ‘em in service and spam them in india in case of war

Apart from the ones with Al-Zarrar upgrades (those are not being replaced) the others only have a few upgrades like Night vision sights, 105MM guns with DU rounds and a couple of others things, they’re still very outdated And highly vulnerable to basic threats like RPGs and other handheld launchers.

These are already in second-line or reserve roles and They are being placed in long term storage as they are retired, they’re not being scrapped. So that possibility remains. But keeping them active while replacements are available is unnecessary costs.

For now the PA is both replacing older tanks (with VT-4) and increasing the size of the tank fleet (with AK-1) , they will keep doing so until they feel like they’ve reached a number that’s enough to counter india, but the replacement process is constant, old ones keep retiring, new ones keep coming.
