Painting of Pakistan Air Force

The painting depicts Mirage IIIEP (S/N 67-112) of PAF No 5 Sqn, piloted by F/L Safdar, on a Combat Air Patrol, 5th December, 1971 (1500 hrs).

Moments later he, with his wingman, F/O Sohail Hameed, intercepted an Indian Hunter of No 20 Sqn, piloted by S/L Jal Mistry.

He fired a well aimed burst at the hunter, which started emitting thick black smoke. His wingman, sensing it could get away, finished it off by firing GAR-8 missile.. This kill was the first (or perhaps the only) joint kill of 1971 war.
