Yesterday i phoned 99th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Office, the officer told me that PAF is certainly not participating for Red Flag 16-3, however he didn't have the schedule for Red Flag 16-4...in which the PAF is obviously going to participate.

GREEN FLAG DATES 2016 ........16-08 will be from July 23 to Aug. 12, 2016

RED FLAG DATES 2016:................Red Flag 16-4: Aug. 15-26, 2016

It's also reported that F-35 will participate in Red Flag 2016.
What is meant by Green flag and Red Flag?

Red Flag = Air to Air exercises
Green Flag = Air to Ground exercises

Pakistani Air Force F-16s are in bound Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.
On Jul. 19, six Pakistani AF F16C/D Block 52+ combat jets landed at Lajes Field, Azores, along with two USAF KC-135R Stratotanker aerial refuelers from McConnell AFB.

The aircraft, belonging to the n° 5 Squadron “Falcons” of the PAF, were in bound to U.S. where they will take part in the Green Flag and Red Flag exercises at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.

The aircraft are deploying to the U.S. (a trip of +7,700 miles) via Saudi Arabia, Souda Bay (Crete), Lajes (Portugal).

This is the second time the PAF Vipers take part in a Red Flag: the very first time was in 2010.

This is good for PAF and USAF since they get to share each other's experience and technical expertise. Exercises like these should continue.

PAF is too professional a force to do as such, remember there wasn't even any notification by PAF of participating.

However, just check some of those that PAF will be exercising with and against including F-22 and F-35.

The machines we had employed in this exercise were new instead of early 80's F-16s. These things raises concerns about old F-16s fleet of PAF against comparatively new Sukhois of IAF.

Recently Griffins participated in Anatolian Eagle with their old F-16s. I personally feel confident when Air Chief or some other senior officers issue statements about PAF's reliability.
