PAF to launch full scale exercise

Just got the news that PAF will launch a full scale nationwide exercise after Eid.
It will be first exercise since 2005 in which all PAF assets and infrastructure will be fully utilised to it's potential.

Saffron Bandit is a combat training exercise focusing on one particular scenario, last time for example, a three minute scramble time was achieved against aerial intrusion.
This particular exercise is more inclined to be that of Highmark series as aircraft will be attacking ground targets, all PAF bases will operate under wartime scenario and Motorways will be used to launch and recover aircraft.

Yup, that is true it is Highmark exercise. It was on the cards because of evolving challenges.

at the moment jf 17 can drop only gen purpose bombs. so no comparison with the F-16 in ground attack.

No dear, things have moved on in fact i would say things have moved at phenomenal speed.

JF-17 Thunder, like any other fighter aircraft can carry multiple long-range and short-range air-to-surface missiles and can perform its interceptor role but modern day interceptors are expected to do more than just interception missions so they are also named as Multi Role Combat Aircrafts due to the versatility of the nature of the job they do. Pakistan Air Force uses its MRCA’s as both fighters and bombers. JF-17 allows us to mount any desired weapon for the completion of the mission. It can carry general purpose bombs, laser guided munitions, runway penetration bombs, anti-radiation anti radar weapons, stand-off missiles, anti-ship missiles and nuclear capable cruise missiles whereas carrying air-to-air missiles is a primary purpose of any combat aircraft.
