PAF successfully test-fires indigenously developed long-range smart weapon from JF-17 Thunder

i think it would have been better PAF would have tested the weapon on 27 feb in india. imagine DG ispr giving a statement on tv that we have not only bombed indian territory but also tested our new weapon. now we have converted india in a testing ground for our new weapons.

How do we know that this wasnt the weapon used?

Smart bomb fired from JF-17. It is a convential war head with horizontal dispersed explosion.
It look like PAF want to show IAF that their jets in hangers are not that safe ……. And that bomb can provide killer punch for IA infantry ..

Denel Dynamics is showing a model of its Raptor III precision stand-off weapon for the first time, in the company’s display outside Hangar 4. The weapon is tailored to a strategic mission against high-value targets, which are often hardened and well-defended.

Like its predecessor, the Raptor II, the new weapon has pop-out wings to extend range. However, the Raptor III is aerodynamically cleaner with its systems being housed within the weapon body.

Other systems, such as infrared seeker, have also been improved. The programme is currently in the development stage.

Raptor III is a long-range (less than 300km) weapon that can be programmed to fly a variety of flightpaths. It is guided by jam-resistant GNSS (global navigation satellite system) and inertial navigation, with optional low-light TV or imaging infrared terminal-phase seekers.

Automatic target recognition algorithms allow the weapon to identify its target and guide itself to impact with a circular error probability of less than 3m. Blast/frag and penetration warhead options are available.

Attack profiles are best planned on the ground for optimal mission planning, but the Raptor III has a datalink for in-flight target reprogramming. The weapon can be fully integrated with an aircraft’s fire control system, or linked to the carrier’s system by wireless transmission.

1-Does shape resemble to L-15 ?
2- is L-15 air to ground ,long rage missile like the one used today and it was fired from air to ground surface by F-17 Block-2 .
3-Today statement also said it was fired by JF-17 with some adjustments in the JF-17 .

They blurred the image of the missile as it hits the ground. So maybe PAF doesn't really want their missile to be recognized...yet

H-2 / H-4 was used on 27th February retaliatory strike and the booster rack was found in a field in Bhimber.

Why they fell there instead of IOK?

The wave & explosion it created could be indicative of an FAE/Thermobaric weapon. Something maybe along the lines of bunker busters. But the test has been conducted on an open land instead of a hardened building. Let's wait for further details.

It will be very effective on LOC against attacking force.
