Because the JF17 can do whatever the Qatari air force requires. Keep in mind Qatar has no current major security problems. Buying more expensive equipment would just be pouring money down the toilet.

Yeah but still for only a 2 million+ population having a defense budget of over 2 billion is alot, we are a 200 million+ nation with only a 7 billion dollar defense budget, why won't they go for expensive jets when they have the money to spare and throw as you say down the toilet.

Perhaps they plan to reduce the defence budget? Or maybe they want numbers instead of equipment.

These things take time, just wait and watch.....even our defence attaches in Qatar is under strict instructions not to disclose anything.

I doubt that. It's marketing and goodwill visit. Signing a deal takes long negotiations.

They Way Qatar is evaluating JF-17 and Mushaq ... You never know maybe they sign a deal in future... Well Geo News is quoting that Apart from LNG deal Qatar and Pakistan also signed 4 more deals that includes Defence sector
