What's new

PAF has a new Chief

.
Naa! Uski soorat ki chaat bana kar khani hai kia? It is not the face that matters but the action. I would rather have someone who looks like a Baboon's backside but runs the force with efficiency and honesty rather than someone who looks like an angel but is corrupt to the core.

But there is no harm if we get someone who is honest and competent and also blessed with good looks like Raheel Shareef, Sohail Amman, Gen. Bajawa..etc

Our problem remains one of putting people on padestels. See our history, everyone is the greatest. and all the greats are dead greats!!!! If someone is a good poet(For instance Faiz or Faraz) then he is just that! A good poet. Dont run after checking whether he is a good human being as well.Similarly, if the Air Chief or naval Chief is very competant and honest why do we need to have him look like Omar Shareef(The Egyptian one not ours!!!). His honesty is another facet which may affect the way in which he deals with the AF and therefore related to his competence. It is OK for Iqbal to be a great poet and visionary even though he may have been a lousy human being(For example) or Mr Jinnah was a visionary leader but had no clue about religion. Accept people with their short comings, and you will realize that the only one worth praising is Allah and his messenger SAW(even though even He SAW was a human being but the best amongst us). Rest are mere mortal souls with their own shortcomings of a lesser or greater nature. This is the gist of my message. The sooner we start making decsions about people based on their skills and contributions, the better our society will become.

Sir, I take them as they are and at least I don't search for other aspects of their lives but honesty, professional competency and loyalty to the nation are pre-requisites for all position especially for such vital positions. Never treated them anything more than what they are..when they do something good, I appreciate but also criticise them when something negative related to their professional decision surfaces. Like Mushy, I used to think of him positively but now my overall image of the poor fellow is less than positive. Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal were surely better humans than all of the leadership Pakistan has produced so far.

Yara.
I get dejected with this whole business of this or that was the greatest and make him the President and give him a Nishan e Haider and 72 Houris and a Palace full of Viagra. I mean the man has done a job which he took oath for. The bhooky nangi qaum and its fking greedy leaders left nothing in the coffers for him to buy so He will not get his 3-5% from anything other than the Block 2 deal of whatever. The whole nation is corrupt to the core. I have yet to see a senior Army/Air force wala die of starvation.Yes there are honest people and some at the top as well. I ask you how is it that a Retired Chief of Army Staff is getting a Salary of a million dollars to lead a force of another nation having retired from Pakistan not so long ago. Most hands are tainted with a commission in this or that deal. I mean for Pete's sake (or since it is Pak land Badruzzaman's sake) the man took a joy ride in a plane on his own to say fare well to a escort of 16s. What the Fuk!!!!. This is a freaking poor nation for Allah's sake. Have some mercy on it. Could he not have said Good bye to them and shed his tears on the ground rather than up in the air while being televised.
OK. enough of a rant. He has done a decent job. The post I made was generalized not particularly directed at anyone.
In this country the real test of your honesty is that you leave the service and nothing comes out against you. You will find most of Army /Navy/Air force walas fail the litmus test. Let us wait and find out. I think he has been a clean chief generally and has shown vision.

Sir, I feel a tint of anger in your post but it is okay. For me none is a holy cow but normally I assume they are honest until proven guilty either through their controversial decisions during their job or some concrete evidence of corruption comes to the surface. For example, there are not a lot of explicit corruption charges against Musharraf however the decision he made damaged the country and were not driven by any principles rather the motive were fear, selfish desire to stay in power and he lied to the nation on multiple occasions.
Well Gen. Raheel Sharif is known for the role he played in suppressing the terrorism and he was successful by and large and the establishment and the govt know that all around the world. Current regime in KSA is scared to death of the fall out of the role it has been playing for decades in the region and the Arab spring so they needed someone who can help them in suppressing any such insurgencies and GRS was perhaps the best person otherwise many retired general including Kiyani and Musharraf were available. So as long as he did his job honestly and made the right decisions I have nothing to think negatively of the man as we should assume innocent until proven guilty. Whatever GRS does in his private life as long as it does not undermine the national interests, I think it is okay and I won't be poking my nose in his business. I hope that the new Air Chief will do his job honestly and wish him best of luck. All five fingers are not equal :)
