PAF FirePower Demo 2019

This is a complete local development by AWC. They have adopted the legacy GBU12, but completely absorbed, local electronics, local power source, local detectors. It is an impressive feat of reverse engineering, and very important milestone on the road to indigenous PGMs, hybrid LGB/ Sat guided weapons etc. To do the flight control, you have to complete re-evaluate the system aerodynamics, starting with scratch. So while it looks like a GBU-12, its nothing like it, and performs twice better. It is also integrated with ground and air designators. I hope this clarifies your question.

The Mk 8X series is already indigenized in country, with more than 4 vendors producing the bombs and its accessories.
Thank you sir for the great info, we've missed you so much!

I hope we can put that expertise to further use. Today, the H2/H4 SOWs offer a unique capability, but it would be very interesting if we could employ the expertise gained from indigenous PGMs and LACMs to develop a successor. Perhaps something that retains the H2/H4's heavy 600+ kg warhead capacity, but can function more autonomously (fire-and-forget) and be deployable from a wider assortment of aircraft (esp. JF-17, but later, Project Azm).

By ground designators do you mean Pakistan has the capability like US JTACs for target designation from the ground?

Perhaps the very reason why Chinese lgb not adopted , read about it long time ms ago in Janes but not sure if that was the case but when paf/pac displayed jf in early days at Turkish Airshow, only gbu-12/10 aim9, pl5, sd-10 , drandell and Exocet were listed as weapons and not much Chinese weapons were listed

paf at one time was interested in Turkish bunker buster for jf-17 but not sure if materialised something like gbu28

https://defence-blog.com/news/turkey-start-to-produce-bunker-buster-bomb-for-use-with-f-16.html

Lastly what is stand off version of anti runway munition I think in today’s environment over the runway pass delivery of drandall type is too risky

Sorry, there aren't so many breaths left in this old man.

PAF is working towards a standoff PGM capability to secure its A/C from enemy LOMAD and HIMAD developments. The H series was developed by the South African for the tall MLG Delta wings, and we adopted it. The weapon will remain in service with the Mirages. There have been many efforts to turn this into a fully autonomous weapon, but not finished yet or abandoned. The weapon efficacy was demonstrated in Feb action over the LAC. H weapon cannot be integrated in JF17 or other platforms.

What is the logic behind televising such events? Why can't we just leave them in the professional realm where they belong?

Every nation feels proud of its forces and wants to see how effective they are. Such demonstrations are popular amongst many nations and I feel that the wrmed forces need to provide an insight into their work to the general public. As such these are a good way of projecting the forces in a good light to the public .
