While I don’t agree with the “greatest airchief” since the PAF has great chiefs in the past. At the end the retd ACM still led the PAF through what was a time where all out conflict was almost a few minutes away and kept the enemy deterred.
That really is all it is to the enemy as a message - sure, you may win but we’ll take you down with us.. and you have a lot, LOT more to lose and your fear of loss is much more than Pakistan’s.

It all depends on perspective - senior officers of the time will cite AM Nur Khan initial disorientation in the conflict since he just took over after being with PIA for the longest.To me Nur khan will always be on top.
