So basically those F -18s and AWACS on the other side of the border were a show of force by the Americans presenting an underlying threat to deter the PAF from intervening into the ongoing SEAL operation? Maybe, it was those US fighters over Jalalabad which made the PAF to pause after scrambling?

oh come on. We all know Pakistani elite has some type of agreements over these drone and American presence inside Pakistan. This is all bullshit which they think will hide the fact that they were informed. One day they say radars were inactive (or jammed whatever) and now they tell this.

Well if there was Awacs in air , it was probbly to determine if Pakistan Airforce was going to attack the chooper, and they would have provided cover for the choppers , to engage JF17 or F16 that we have.

But my personal thought is that these Helicopters were flown in with Low level flying into Pakistan and in mist of darkness it would have been hard for anyone to spot the dark helicopters

a) No moon in skies
b) It was darkest day of month
c) It was specially helo coated in pure black no flashing lights of course and stealthy chopper.

But in general - I think the probem is Bin Ladin had to be caught , but realistically we should have been notified , and we should have had a joint operation to get some benefit of capturing Bin Ladin

We sacrified , soliders, equipment and economy loss , and in end what we got a total snub ... backstabbing of epic proportions.




The beef i have with CIA is why on god's hell did you not .. tell Pakistani forces or ISI ...

Sure you got Bin Ladin but then what ? You completely destroyed trust between Pakistan and US for a old guy sitting in his compound

Speculation, and the US and Pakistan are not going to go to war, it would be ruinous for both. OBL was our enemy too, and there was an agreement to allow the US to get him, because he murdered thousands.

Could you elborate the bold part please? How would it be ruinous for a country that has about 2 alternates for supply routes at hand just waiting for a nod and whose mainland is about half the world away? You think 10 years of handling guerilla war hasn't taught them anything? Think again mate.

If indeed OBL was your enemy, then how come your government let him enter the country and by the accounts of his wives, stay just about a few meters away from your national military academy? For 5 years OBL was sitting pretty inside your country while neither your ISI nor Pak Army knew anything about him, sending US on a wild goose chase everywhere from Iraq to Iran to Afghanistan.

Of course US is arrogant, it is a world power, whereas we are a regional power, but the US needs us, as we need them - the relationship goes both ways. And OBL is both of our countries, enemy.

I think PAF should make up their mind what is the real story. Even if they knew, they would have done nothing. I have a hunch that AWACS was in air when the attack took place and couple of F-18 standby. In case F-16 of Pakistan would have taken off, they would entered Pakistan. They know what F-16 is capable off and how to reduce its effect.

i personally think that our forces and government were aware of the fact that there is a operation which will take place but they were not aware of the nature of the operation.
