PAF Chief meets Saudi Crown Prince

Al-Salam Aerospace was going to assemble the Typhoons in Saudi Arabia but then Boeing increased its shares in Al-Salam from 20% to 50% effectively having the majority of shares and sole decision making, which then Boeing refused to assemble Typhoon.
Seriously? This is outrageous and it seems like S.Arabia has got a really sour deal here- losing that kind of experience- building 40+ Typhoons is substantially harmful to S.Arabia's long term aerospace industry.

Who okayed this descion in Govt? Wouldn't it have been clear from the outset that Boeing were going to take such a step and block a rival's interests?

Why did the Saudi govt allow their, seemingly, premier aerospace institution to be handed over on a silver platter to a foreign power?

This is called "who is the daddy" .
Unable to make decision for the product you are paying in full cash.

Or that it doesn't matter how shiny their air force looks like, when they are not allowed to use their fighters like they want it.

It is private corporations world. Boeing fvcked us over and they ended up getting what they want, in fact they offered F-15SA complete upgrade work along with manufacturing of all new systems that need replacing in Al-Salam.

Azeeb Aerospace, Saudi Twilight Inc refused to foot the guarantee and insurance bill, they are smaller aerospace firms compared to Al-Salaam and they don't have enough liquidity to sustain such a thing.

But yeah, in the end BAE built an upgrade, repair and spare parts manufacturing facility in Al-Dammam, so in all seriousness it is not like "All is lost" situation. Boeing move was a dick move no denying that.

Mosa...
This is not the first time, I doubt it will be the last time.
From the day you posted Saudi Arabia's procurement of Typhoons, I made noise that going indigenous was the only way.

Saudi Arabia could have teamed with Turkey, Pakistan and Indonesia.
We might not have produced the best jet in the world, but it would have been OURS !

Wing tip to Wing tip. No one could question if it will fight X, and if Y had a kill switch.

None of these countries have produced the fighter jet alone yet so it would have taken hell of time you should go for some chinese or Russian Plane and get them with TOT that would be lot easier than getting Typhoon with complete TOT
