Note: A classic example of how BJP manipulates minds of simple folks. How RSS slowly puts hatred in people's minds against Muslims. You can never be truly free until you develop critical thinking skills.

Jaya Prada likened the ‘arrogance’ of SP leader Azam Khan to that of Alauddin Khilji’s in the film.

Ranveer Singh plays Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat.

Actor turned politician Jaya Prada recently watched Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat and made a curious remark. It seems that the film hit home for the former Member of Parliament, as she likened the character of Alauddin Khilji, a 13th century Sultan of Delhi, to Azam Khan, a member of the Samajwadi Party. She has also alleged that she was ‘harassed’ by him while she was contesting elections. The bitter rivalry between the two politicians isn’t new. It dates back to 2009, when Khan was accused by Prada of maligning her name during elections.

Ranveer Singh played the part of Alauddin Khilji, while Deepika Padukone essayed the role of Rani Padmavati, and Shahid Kapoor reprised the role of Raja Ratan Sen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama - Padmaavat.

The film, initially named Padmavati, became the centre of controversy as it faced ugly protests in the country by members of Karni Sena and other fringe groups who claimed that the historical facts in the movie were “distorted”.

Say what you must about the man but he was a military genius, before him no one had defeated the Mongols. He was the first to do it and drove them back to Afghanistan that too at the height of Mongol power when everyone trembled at the sound of their name.

Naah...They Turkic Mamlukes of Egypt were the first ones to defeat the united Mongol empire in open Battle.....Alauddin Khilji defeated only Chagatai Khanate one of the four Khanates post breakdown of UNited Mongol Empire.....and the records of the splinter Khanates are nowhere near the UNited Mongol Empire when it comes to battles

I will have to read up that, I have only read the subcontinent history so know that they carried out multiple invasions ransacking Lahore, Multan and adjoining areas, Khilji inflicted the first defeat.

It's a bank holiday weekend and we are still in lockdown so will look up Mongol conquests in further.
Although I am a BJP voting Indian Hindu, after watching the movie Padmavat, all I can say is that is I had to be reincarnated I would rather be reincarnated as Alauddin Khilji and not the Rana.

Regards
I concur would love to have his attitude and confidence obviously don't like the way he treated his wife but if I had a chance at Deepika Padukone I would too.

To native Indians Khilji was as much an alien as Mongols.
And many especially Hindu wish Monols had won, as Khilji was one of the worst cruel ruler in the same category as Aurangzeb
