as i have mentioned earlier that PA number has to do alot with the ranking u pass out....GC numbers has nothing to do with PA numbers....the better u r when u pass out the better (lower) PA number u will get...now u must b thinking whts the benefit of guud performance in PMA...lets supppose there are 40 vacancies for some forgein courses..GHQ makes a merit list according to the officers' individual performance but again not only the performance will taken into account but before tht the the seniority of officers will also b taken into account...so seniroty how?.....PA numbers ofcourse....u might not b called for interview if they required 60 officers in total but u were the 61st...coz ofcourse there would b officers whose performnance would b exactly the same...by exactly i mean the extacly there marks---i have deliberatly not used the exact word for these.....as theres a system to measure officers' performance n allot them marks....and no one will like to talk abt those so please dont ask

...so which one they choose ..the senior...if they r from two diffrent courses then it is obviouse tht the senior will go but if u r course mates...n imagine both r eligible , both r efficient, both have exactly same grades in courses..etc etc and they equal as far as the performance n merit is concerned but only the senior PA number will go coz he might be an appoinment holder in PMA n the other one was just a plain GC...got it...

You are right. The GC #s and the PA #s are not linked. PA #s are assigned based on the order of merit upon passing out.
