‘Our country, not Netanyahu’s’: Thousands join anti-PM rallies across Israel (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Thousands of people across Israel have joined marches against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the fourth consecutive week, demanding his resignation following several corruption allegations.

Wonder what's going to come out of these corruption allegations that have been hanging on Netanhayu's head for a while now. I think his wife is even complicit in some nefarious activities as well. Some of the stuff, if I'm not mistaken, have to do with accepting bribes or money in exchange for awarding certain groups the contract for the German subs? There's some other weird stuff in there also.

Good for these people, and great sign calling out the Crime Minister!

I think Netanyahu is going to go down with his wife and chief rabbinate of Israel because he is also corrupt along with him

That one guy said that government doesn't represent the majority of Israelis and he wanted all 120 members to go home. People don't usually come out and protest for no reason, but hard to believe it's over $100K worth of funding abuse. I figured it was for much more than that since that figure is so not worth it. Either make it millions or nothing.

that the beauty of 4th gen warfare.

You find beauty in war ? You seem to have some very twisted ideas of what is beautiful and what is ugly .

Thank you my friend, and likewise. I'll tag you on my profile page so we can catch up and not off-topic the thread.

But speak your mind and don't feel strange. I'm sure many here will be interested in your opinion about this topic, and especially about the allegations on Netanyahu. Go for it!

Ok i will give it a go.

First i agree with your thought 100% . The money charges are ridiculous and not enough.

Either catch him on something big or leave us alone .

So far the money charges consists of gifts of boxes of cigars and champagne that he received on a regular bases. True the sum of money they cost mounted up , but still we are talking about cigars and champagne.

Although not exactly the modest behavior we came to expect from our leaders ( considering that Ben Gurion spend his retirement in a shack in the Negev desert or Begin that lived in a 2 rooms modest apartment ) But not enough to go to court with - seems over righteous to me. Just something for the public to judge whether they approve of his life style or not , come election time.

Than there is his attempt to wrongly influence a newspaper to write positive articles about him. This is much more serious charge but I fear most public would not understand exactly what offence did he commit. Too complicated.

Now there is the submarine issue - which if involved would have been an amazing public outcry and the end of him. But so far there is nothing to show he was involved in it.

As much as i would like to see him go but not like this.

The best way is that some other leader would rise up an offer the Public a better way to follow so Netanyahu would be voted down. That is the right and moral way. I do not want just Netanyahu to go. I want the public to denounce not him but his way and ideology. In a democratic country this is how it should be done.

As it stands now with legal proceeding taking years to complete ,Netanyahu will continue to play his crowds of followers and lash out at the police , courts and off course the media and the news sites.

And as much as i hate to say it ,he has one point which is true. If their was some real peace process going on all the writers , news papers and intellectuals would not go at him with the same enthusiasm.

For example , when Sharon was PM and his son got into some dodgy deal there was hardly the same out cry. Because Sharon was about to pull out of Gaza and many of them wanted him to complete this move.

As i see it now there is a good chance that he will pay some political price if not for corruption than for lashing out at the courts and the police who are just doing their job.

There are already many of his coalition members that are more than uncomfortable with this.

So could be that his days as PM are numbered after all . How will it end is a million dollar question that no one in Israel knows the answer to.

Ben Gurion this person is not !

You would think $100K would be a lot of cigars and champagne, but given the cost of Cuban cigars and Don Perignon, that's a measly amount, lol.

Was he using intimidation tactics? Interesting because if there is one place in the region where you would think that kind of thing doesn't work, it would be Israel.

I don't know, buddy, he even looks guilty trying to hide through the hatch! :enjoy:

Haretz claims that the closest people around him are quite guilty of bribery and fraud for the German sub contracts, especially his lawyer and (former?) chief of staff. And if he plays dumb and really didn't know what they were doing behind his back, then being clueless about that much money being secretly exchanged within people that close to him is almost as bad, because it absolves him of any criminal doing, but people will look at his alleged cluelessness as complete incompetence and negligence. It won't land him in jail, but it'll probably end his political career, I would think.

Sounds like someone we know very well over here! How many times can he run for prime minister?

And as much as i hate to say it ,he has one point which is true. If their was some real peace process going on all the writers , news papers and intellectuals would not go at him with the same enthusiasm.

Really? Is it because it would be a bigger distraction and not necessarily something that would be welcomed?
