Our army didn't intrude into Ladakh: China

China today rejected reports of intrusion by its troops in Ladakh, saying the People's Liberation Army (PLA) soldiers patrolled the Chinese side of Line of Actual Control (LAC) without "trespassing" into it.

Presenting China's stand, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying also called for resolution of the issue through talks.

"China's frontier troops have been abiding by the agreement between the two countries and abiding by the LAC agreed by the two countries.

"Our frontier troops have been patrolling on the China's side of LAC", Hua said at a media briefing here, responding to a spate of questions.

"Our troops are patrolling on the Chinese side of the LAC and have never trespassed the line", she said.

A platoon-strength contingent of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) came 10 km inside the Indian territory in Burthe in DBO sector in Ladakh, which is at an altitude of about 17,000 feet, on the night of April 15 and established a tented post there.

External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said today in New Delhi that India and China are holding flag meetings to address the issue of incursion.

However, China claims it has not done anything wrong.

"China's position is firm and clear. We have been abiding by the agreement of the two countries having normal patrol on Chinese side and never trespassed the LAC", the Chinese spokesperson said during the course of her replies.

"China believes that the current India-China relations have been in a fine shape. We have maintained good communication and coordination on the boundary issue," she said.

"The boundary areas are in a peaceful condition. China is willing to properly solve the boundary question based on peaceful negotiations.

"We would like to solve the boundary issue through proper mechanisms in order to create conditions for the development of China-India relations", she said.

Observers say China's stand defending its "incursion" is puzzling as it may result in raising of a new dispute on the much agreed LAC by the two countries which brought about sense calm while they negotiated the boundary dispute.

To pointed questions on why Chinese troops chose to move forward especially when the relations between the two countries improved a great deal and ahead of reported plans by China's new Premier Li Keqiang to visit New Delhi, Hua said there is a great deal of speculation on the border incursion issue in Indian media.

"I noticed that some Indian officials made relevant remarks. Please refer to them", she said apparently pointing to the comments that different perceptions of the LAC existed and both sides made efforts to resolve it through established mechanism.

"China values its relations with India and would like to develop sound steady and long term relationship with India", she said.

"We believe relevant problem should be properly solved through negations in a peaceful manner. Relevant issue is left over from history. The current conditions at the border are peaceful and stable. What the two countries should do now is to pool consensus and sit down together for solution. There is no need for groundless speculation and suspicion", she said.

"We believe the current India-China relations have been in a advanced shape. We have maintained good communication and coordination on the boundary issue", she said referring to the periodic talks headed by Special Representatives of the two countries to resolve the boundary dispute. The two sides held 15 rounds of talks so far.

"The boundary areas are in a peaceful condition. China is willing to properly solve the boundary question based on peaceful negotiations. We would like to solve the boundary issue through proper mechanisms in order to create conditions for the development of China-India relations".

there are professional, well-trained, steely-willed PLA troops: they only set feet on chinese territory. where they set their feet it was undoubtedly chinese soil. these yellow yindoo journalism never amounted to any credibility in the world compared to the trust people put in PLA

. .
Exactly what I thought india always use china to get world attention
Maybe but I do wish PLA really doing something there neglect the so called LAC.
The boundary not be settled and India already taken advantges there, why shouldn't we.
If India take actions against us,just let them do,for no advantages in our side.

Ladakh was a tributary state of China. Unfortunate, China was weak and in civil war back then, so it was invaded by British later.

There was no such a country called India at that time.

British India the wholly same thing,we just do ours and let them hold on their own proofs.

I tend to believe that this is another baseless fuss made up by the Indian media (possibly influenced by the Indian Army). Reports by reports we have seen such claims before in the Indian media, yet the Indian government often had to come out and clarify that the reports were wrong. Someone may say it is the Indian media's right to write such stories, well, they have just abused the freedom of speech and ruined their credibility. And the Indian newspapers are wondering why their journalists were not called by the Chinese leaders during press conferences.

Buddy lets not go back to the debate of "there was no country called India at that time" i have commented with proof on existence of one India from centuries back even in Mythology there was India so lets not get in to the debate.

Back on topic: There is no clear perception of the LAC so things like these happen relax.

No its no a unrealistic media report. The incident is true however the Chinese have told as above because they claim that land to belong to China.

But India refutes the claim and says that it is Indian territory so as long as we don't have a clear border agreement things like this will continue.

He is out for long time. Thanks Mods!!

We can go back to topic now. ..

Both India and China will claim/ deny the intrusion. It's true the the border or line of control is not properly marked and both side might be taking advantages to test waters.

Both side are not in position to wage war against each other and such incidents will continue in near future. These can be resolved easily in Flag meetings.

Let's not hype it too much!

1.A disputed area claimed must be occupied from time to time to keep the dispute alive. Otherwise after a lapse of some years, the claim will loose credibility in the eyes of the world. Therefore, we can expect China to be doing this all along the McMahon Line from time to time till she finally decides to regain what has been held in adverse possession by India courtesy the British imperialists.

2. It's about time PLA made another push towards Dispur, S Tibet.

.
I don't believe the report until it is verified thoroughly, Chinese have intruded and violated border lot of times in the past.

.
I agree with the Chinese posters here - China is not capable enough to set foot on Indian territory since this is no longer 1962. If they did cross, they must have inadvertently crossed and will quietly go back. The Chinese media is state run so they will obviously not admit it to their people that the Chinese troops might have crossed by mistake. Perhaps they were chasing Chinese refugees coming into India and crossed over.

That would explain why the People's Republic of China has not set foot in Taiwan since err.... forever.

There has been a civilization in Indian subcontinent called Indian civilization. But it was never a country. The country of India was founded by Britain.

And when was the People's Republic of China founded? Perhaps they don't teach this in China but the nation-state is a relatively new concept which emerged from the West. Else, it was always civilizations.
