TECHNICAL DETAILS OF TULPAR

The Tulpar infantry fighting vehicle was developed by Otokar. This new Turkish armored vehicle was revealed in 2013. The Tulpar IFV is named after a mythological winged horse. Recently Otokar introduced a number of new armored vehicles. Also it is responsible for development of the new Altay main battle tank. The Tulpar is aimed both at a possible Turkish Army requirement, as well as export customers.

The Tulpar has modular armor. There protection levels are available. Weight of this IFV may bay 25, 35 and 40 t, depending on protection level. It seems that front arc of the baseline vehicle provides protection against 25-mm armor-piercing projectiles. All-round protection is against 14.5-mm rounds. It seems that this vehicle survives 10 kg TNT blasts anywhere under the hull. Tuplar with maximum add-on armor can be considered as a heavy IFV. With additional armor modules it is as heavy as the famous T-72 main battle tank. Vehicle is also fitted with NBC protection and fire suppression systems. It can be also fitted with active protection system.

The Tulpar IFV is fitted with Mizrak 30 unmanned turret. It is armed with 30-mm dual-fed cannon and coaxial 7.62-mm machine gun. Also this turret can be fitted with LUMTAS long-range anti-tank guided missiles. These missiles have laser guidance.

Vehicle is fitted with advanced observation and aiming devices. This new IFV has a lot of common subsystems with Altay MBT.

This infantry fighting vehicle accommodates commander, gunner, driver and eight fully-equipped troops.

It is claimed that two different engines are available on this armored vehicle. Engine compartment is located at the front.

New cobra and specially tulpar are looking good, but Otokar have always been a good company(in general turkey is good at building heavy vehicles)

Turkey should start investing on building indigenous engines around 500 hp(for IFVs and APCs) and 1200-1500 for heavy armor, so that turkey become independent from westerns(you can never trust them)

Anyway congratulation to our turkish neighbors.

Engines are allready underdevelopment but it will take some time.
