Boeing is actively promoting a version of the V-22 Osprey fitted with a palletized version of the Thales Cerberus mission system and the Searchwater airborne radar system under the project designation of TOSS. This evolved Cerebus system could also be fitted to Merlin's equipped with a rear ramp.

Special Osprey for a special mission. Could hover above over enemy like AC 130 Gunship is still in designing phase.

If the V-22 were to be ordered by IN/IAF it wouldn't be today, next week, next month or even next year but sometime in the near future(2-3 years) as the potential roles it would play for Indian forces ie AEW/SAR/utility lift for IN are not pressing but requirments for the future. There is really no rush, the Indian armed forces can afford to sit back, wait and watch the V-22s service and upgrades. As more and more systems are delivered to the end user (USAF/USMC) and more systems fly more and more info will be collated and avalible to India to evlauate as well as any bugs/issues being addressed over time. The ball truly is in India's court and they can dicate the rate of play as they wish.
