That would be a very big headache, just realize the magnitude of the situation while he is dead and imagine the magnitude if he were alive.

He would have to be taken in to some jail where they would have to follow international law and try him in the hague, inlike Saddam, who was tried in the Iraqi courts, Osama would have to be tried in the international court of justice. Thus linking him to the events of 911 and other terrorist activities would be a challenging task. In this process, Osama would again become the hero in the Muslim world and there would be a lot of problems.

The US government had no part in the release post mortem images of UBL. Unlike our enemies who pride themselves on the release of graphic images of those they have killed which they then treat as trophies --a practice that violates both the Geneva Convention and US law, distributing images of combat fatalities as propaganda is against our policies. Fake pictures have already emerged and are being circulated on the world wide web. The initial picture released (we do not know the origin, but it has apparently been circulated for years), has caused some to doubt the AQ leaders death and to consider the operation staged. The US conducted successful DNA matches with many members of his family which, along with visual and voice recognition, confirmed his identity.

Not Releasing Picture

President Obama has decided after due consideration that the pictures of Osama Bin Laden’s dead body will not be released. Even if we had decided to release a photo, history shows that there will sadly be some who would have continued to deny the fact of Bin Laden’s death. Their statement reconfirms UBL death, and, like UBL, their disregard towards attacking Muslims. Most importantly, does it not show their hypocrisy? And now once again, in return for the life of a single foreign mass murderer they are willing to increase their attacks and target Pakistanis. Does this not tell you who Pakistan’s real enemy is?

at any rate, I think it would be prudent for the US to release the video and/or pictures of the body. And in fact it seems that the government is under inexorable pressure to release them, which Im sure they will once things ''cool down'' a bit. They did with Abo Musab Zarqawi as well as Uday/Qusay Hussein ---who were the ones REALLY living in a mansion; not a brick and mortar building near some farmlands which certain medias are calling a ''luxury compound''
