What is the meaning of this? You are unsure of whether to donate or not?
I mean this is not something I consider my self doing or something I have even thought of-
it's halal or haram, even I haven't done any research -
On paper it looks like a Nobel thing to do- personally I would want all of me inside my grave- whatever - see how much confused I am- lol

I know Shia school of thought and Clergy has a very progressive stand on this issue. I wish same could be said about Sunni school of thought. @Zarvan

Religion doesn't need to be involved in this matter, because there is nothing in Quran and Sunnah that prevents people from donating their organs and saving lives. I don't understand why a religious scholar should disagree with it.

Is this because you think or believe you'll need your body after life?

Many do disagree hence I tagged Zarvi.

In Islam it is said on the day of judgment by the order of Allah- no matter how scattered or dissolved or far away your body parts are they will come together before soul is inserted again one more time for trial - so no its not that-

Where does Sunni Islam come into the picture here? Organ donation is widespread across the entire Muslim world if I am not wrong and 90% of all Muslims are Sunni Muslims.

In for instance KSA organ donation is widely practiced although it was once frowned upon which was the case for every country at one point among those that practice organ donation today.

Islam obviously approves of organ donations for medical purposes and especially if it can save life's of humans in need of organs.

So not sure why Shia or Sunni was mentioned in the first place.

Regarding the question. I have no problem with it but it's not exactly something that I have discussed with my doctor.

We Muslims sometimes tend to have the most silly discussions. The next thing will be a theological discussion about whether we are allowed to swim.

Here in Pakistan a difference of opinion on organ donation does exist between the two school of thought. There are many sunni friends of mine who find no issue with that but others have reservations for the Moulvi saheb of their neighborhood mosque did not like the idea.

That's surprising to hear I must say. Although I am not a Sheikh/Mullah I find that astonishing considering the teachings of Islam and the fact that organ donations are not mentioned specifically.

But all you basically need to know that it is "halal" is the following;

Surat Al-Mā'idah (The Table Spread) - سورة المائدة

5:32

Sahih International
Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors.

Or at least that should be enough if you ask me.

Anyway I have not really looked into this field in terms of the Islamic theology behind it but I am pretty much certain that as long as the person is dead and it can safe a life/be beneficial for a living person it is halal. Regardless of fiqh.

Donor though you would have to be pretty desperate to want mine too many miles on them ;)

I have given blood.

Though organ donation, I haven't signed up. I keep putting it off, only not too long ago I was considering this, after hearing an appeal. Apparently, the Asian population of the UK has too few organ donors, that's causing problems for our NHS.

I will sign up, it can all go.
