Carrying on worthless traditions was probably the first thing PTI government promised. The opposition is happy playing friendly opposition to this government relying solely on the fact that the current administration is lacking experience and focus.

This is a good u turn in my opinion infact a right turn. Parliament should be functional now as PTI needs to pass laws. Moreover, Showbaaz Sharif presence will be irrelevant as he will be living most of his time in jail

Ridiculous decision. He should have himself offered the position to a senior PPP leader. It would have then put the ball in their court. PMLN could either reject a PPP candidate, or the PPP candidate could have rejected the role. Hopefully it would have triggered some fighting between them.

I don't think that this is the right decision, however, as our opposition has a constitutional power in a democracy and it was not in control of IK therefore rather than keeping the stalemate he has surrendered his rightful demand ...

I hope slowly and gradually our parliament will get rid of corrupt people both within opposition and government ...

I salute this man, IK ,,, he really wants to establish rule of law as he could have continue his government and no one was stopping him but he wants a functional parliament and he backed down of his rightful demand as per constitutional power of opposition ...

I was just listening the news in detail where it has been clearly said that the cases against PMLN leaders and the issues raised during PMLN Govt, will be supervised by a sub committee, led by PTI, hence Showbaaz Sharif will ONLY be the leader of PAC for any issue raised after July 25 elections.

PTI/Imran Khan got his/their wishes fulfilled too. No Shahbaz sharif for any issue relevant to PML-N.

Very positive development IMO.

Those people who are criticizing the decision must read out the news/development properly.

Its not a U-turn IMO but a balanced agreement between PTI and the opposition. Both parties got their wishes fulfilled.

Imran clearly and often said that , as far as issues raised during PML-N Govt, particularly corruption cases pretending to PML-N leader(s),shouldn't be supervised by a brother of ex-PM as chairman of apex committee who is facing corruption charges while opposition was of the point of view that, regardless of any thing, chairperson of apex will be the leader of opposition. So any cases relevant to PML-N will be forwarded to a sub committee which will be led by PTI appointed MNA in parliament. Opposition actually accepted PM's demand as well.

ISLAMABAD:

The government and the opposition on Thursday broke the deadlock over the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and agreed to appoint Leader of the Opposition Shehbaz Sharif, Express News reported.

It has also been decided to constitute sub-committee to oversee Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) audit panels.

Qureshi announced the decision in the lower house, bringing to end months of an impasse between the government and the opposition which had hampered the legislative process.


The foreign minister said that after a meeting with the premier, it was decided to give the slot to Shehbaz as the opposition had refused to budge from its demand and refused to nominate any other individual.

“In the larger interest of democracy and to make the Parliament functional, we have conceded to the opposition’s demand,” said the foreign minister.
