All IT guys, recently i was trying to research on the widely acclaimed opinion/fact that world is moving towards india for IT workforce and development due to cheap labour which in turn is fueling loss of jobs in US for local workforce, and outsourcing requirements to india and others.

So my question is, since i was trying to figure out, what ares of development is india serving them as compared to what Pakistan can give.

I know Pakistani Freelance industry and software exports are nothing less (as compared to population ratio), but kindly give detailed answers as what has it got to do with ?

Languages ? Areas ? Expertise ?

Where is Pakistan standing in terms of exporting services related to :

- Artificial Intelligence
- Machine learning
- Cloud Computing
- Data Handling (Databases)
- Web development
- Modern Windows development
- iOS development
- OS Development

@Counter-Errorist @Stealth kindly tag any other related to the field

.
Also highlight that what are the emerging demands and their future prospects and where are we standing at the quality of expertise ?

I do have a hint that we are quite outdated in some fields and under skilled in some.

The first place we're lacking is brand. Where is our infosys? If people want to outsource thier IT, Infosys is a brand people know (for better or for worse). We don't have that yet.

Cheap labour alone is insufficient in attracting investors. When someone decides to outsource to India, there are companies waiting with armies of sales people, project managers, and a whole suite of developers to cater to every need, even if done shabbily so. On paper, they seem like they can handle anything thrown at them.

What we lack is organization and government support. We need IT parks, easier access to loans and a proper startup ecosystem.

If say I secure a foreign project, where do I find developers? There's no reliable local hiring platform. Where do I get the money to make it happen? There's no proper investment platform and no security for investors or investees, business loans aren't easy to get and have very high interest rates. There's no place where I can open an office with like-minded companies.

Until these problems are solved, our freelancers are own their own.

Tbh i am disappointed with the IT industry in India. We are just acting as a cheap labour for them ,no innovation , creativity. Despite the overwhelming success in IT industry ,theres no Indian google or microsoft or Intel or Qualcomm. What we have instead is Infosys , TCS , Wipro. Same shit every company is doing.

I have heard that indians are quite common in the world of DBMS more than anyone, is that true ?

Expecting answer from you as well @Counter-Errorist @313ghazi

I can't say for sure. I personally haven't come across an Indian DBA, but there must be millions out there. In most IT fields, you'll find an Indian contractor. Although from my limited experience, they tend to be coders or QA's more than BA's or PM's. I think the language gap plays a part in that.

There's way too many South Asians in the field to make that sort of generalization. There are various tiers of talent among them - ranging from the cream of the cake - Google, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft - to those crunching out code that makes your eyes bleed.

Apart from the standard Web, Mobile, Cloud fields popular these data - I've personally hired Pakistanis for machine learning, crypto trading bots, network packet scanning algorithms and few other higher tier jobs. One of my close friends specializes in quantum security and VR/AR. So we definitely have the talent - a lot of them are self-learners.
