Time after time we have stated our commitment to working with the Pakistanis and Afghans towards achieving a peaceful and stable in the AF/PAK region. The notion that the United States will “abandon” the region has been circulated around for over a decade now, but as you have witnessed, thirteen years later we continue to support the Afghans and work with our Pakistani counterparts. Our mission has changed from combat operations to supporting and training the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF). Our mission is focused on building the ANSF so that they are fully capable of protecting and safeguarding their country and countrymen against violent extremists.

Currently fourteen nations are participating in Operation Resolute Support in Afghanistan. The key objectives of this operation are listed below:

v Supporting planning, programming and budgeting;
v Assuring transparency, accountability and oversight;
v Supporting the adherence to the principles of rule of law and good governance;
v Supporting the establishment and sustainment of such processes as force generation, recruiting, training, managing and development of personnel.

To provide you with a perspective on the U.S posture towards Afghanistan, and our Operation Resolute Support, we would like to share a video of General John Campbell’s testimony to congress on U.S. Policy in Afghanistan.

Fast forward to 9:30secs, to hear Commander of US and NATO Forces in Afghanistan, General John Campbell.

The 13 years were because the US was stuck, not because it didn't want to leave.

If the US is not abandoning the region, than it is doing a poor job of showing it. Only time will tell if these words hold any truth to them; I'm not holding my breath.

This is as much USA can stretch their Limits on a land which doesnt even Interested in Making a functional Govt. on the first place. They are leaving but how could we blame them because they tried every single thing in Afghanistan but nothing worked so they are better off saying Good Bye and Good Riddance to a place which is Hopeless by itself.

Tried every single thing? They practically pulled out of Afghanistan, leaving only around 10-20,000 troops, because they started a war with Iraq. I reject the notion that they "tried everything". They had a chance to stop the insurgency before it even began, if they had accepted the taliban's offer of negotiating a surrender, which included amnesty for the taliban fighters after the taliban gov was toppled.

This is a false narrative. The US did little, and they're finally realizing their mistake.
