Operation Midnight Jackal, one of the worst political scandals

This reminds me about the great general Field Marshall Erich von Manstein, arguably the greatest general of the post-napoleonic era.

Germany's fate had been sealed by 1944 and utter destruction was undeniably on its way. Some allied commanders and a few german officers asked Manstein to stage a coup against Adolf Hitler so a ceasefire could be negotiated once Hitler was removed from power.

MANSTEIN; the architect of the SICKLE STROKE, the mastermind of the BATTLE OF KIRCH PENINSULA and the magician at the THIRD BATTLE OF KHARKOV; uttered these words,
"PRUSSIAN GENERALS DO NOT MUTINY".

A military commander, whose performance can't be paralelled by many in history, chose to OBEY HIS POLITICAL LEADERSHIP EVEN IN THE WAKE OF SURE DEFEAT. A true soldier will always honor his obedience to the leadership. Manstein refused to go against the HIGHEST OF THE TRADITIONS OF HIS FAMILY WHICH SERVED IN THE PRUSSIAN ARMY FOR CENTURIES.

Just some food for thought for those who boast that they are PROFESIONAL SOLDIERS i.e. Pakistani generals.

Dear I/we have learned our lessons quite well, crossed the river of maturity one way or other finally and now waiting on the other side for you/others to joins.

Hamsafar Milti hay Manzil Thokrain Khanay ke Baad..
Rang Lati Hay Hina pathar pay Piss Janay ke Baad.!!

This is the time for IK/PTI as a leader and a party to prove their mantle when they finally reach on the “Bridge” by the middle…through the “support”…., Bcz that is the easiest part… the other half they have to cross alone and by their own and believes me I/We support him when he is purely on his own and thinking to decide either to make that journey as it is or God forbids turning back fearfully. Marks my words…!!

So, At the moment….just “Fasten Your Belts”..!! there is a bumpy ride ahead..!!

he made it this far at his own, he had his chance to get the "support", but he refused,

and Nawaz Sharif had his chance to as APDM leader, but a phone call from GHQ was enough to cancel the long march in Gujranwala.

If IK can make this far, with public support he can make it to the other half of the bridge too !!

Brother, The first half will only completed when he becomes the PM One Day..!!

The civil govts. of 90's destroyed Pakistan in one decade.

Noora Sharif and BB both forced agencies to tow their personal and political agendas.
This was also the time when anti Pakistan states, established their intelligence networks in Pakistan with ease. While today we are facing the music of same negligence and distraction.

Upon assuming power, Zardari wished to do the same and therefore, Rehman Malik was appointed as head of agencies.
Driven by anti state agenda, Rehman Malik made massive appointments and replacement in all branches of civil intelligence agencies.

Later it was also announced by the PPP spokesperson that Rehman Malik would become head of both ISI and army.
This dictatorial call was countered wisely, by the current ISI chief Pasha.

No doubt PAK army had to fight all covert and overt enemies and if they loose focus they would easily be taken for a ride and later blamed for all the evils, by the same who used them.

Looking with a wider lense, though, most of the embarrassing / unsavory moments of Pakistani history are either a result of Pakistani military action or happened during the times of military dictatorship

1. 1971
2. Kargil
3. Participation in WoT
4. Assassination of Benazir Bhutto
etc etc

Doesnt that tell you something else though...

You know our account of history and believes does not match a bharti so refrain form trolling.

Ironically all the listed incidences went out of Pakistan's favor because of politicians dictating army.

While there is nothing wrong in participation in WOT, it was again Ghadari...... who turned it against Pakistan.

I repeat again that it was unfortunate democrazy of 90's which bogged down Pakistan in all spheres. While enemies of Pakistan seized the opportunity and sneaked into our social fabric.

whatever the analogy, lets hope that political forces emerge triumphant

In current political environment of the country no single force can be triumphant by his own single handedly no matter how much support he brings upon in the parliament..!! Unless majority of them comes around and develops a common political agenda for the country for the longer run, just like COD was between BB and NS. This kind of understanding should be broadened now and includes all political forces (with nationalistic one as well) who want a rule by the sheer will of people and reject unequivocally the sheer interference of outsiders beyond the constitution allowed.

Hoti khan found the M3 map and purchased all the properties prior to construction started, and sold the property to government back 100 times more then it's price, & hoti says this proudly that he didn't earned money through corruption, but only from motor way. This was on reason why motorway construction price went high, where it was estimated to reach 11 Bilion rupees but in the end Musharaf closed the process one 25 billion. But still hoti the one who couldn't clear his english paper of fsc (& then called someone else to write his paper for him) is still a saint because he is the part of PTI :)

agree. (the forum just wont let me say "Agree" :) )

I dont consider it it a worst or failure because Pakistan case has become the worst under these pusedo communist lovers Bhutto and PPP gang...this party must be banned!

so he must have purchased the M3 proposed lane all the way (which divided lands of probably hundreds of owners), and must have sacked the government to act on Law of acquisition to acquire property from anyone to make it 100 times expensive !

besides how exactly 53 km long M3 that connects Faisalabad to M2 was purchased by ANP leader?

Wow! It simply amazing me as to how much the ISI plays a part in the day to day governance as well as government formation in Pakistan! Uniformed men who are trained and meant to fight an enemy are instead busy in palace intrigues which are mind blowing in scope and intent! Sorry to say it, but it's no wonder that Pakistan is where it is today because of this crass interference of democratic processes by those in uniform.

Indeed, if ever any proof is needed of the security 'Establishment' of Pakistan then the Operation Midnight Jackal is one of them.

Pakistanis in late 80's were in great optimism. Zia had just died. Like Corazine Aquino in Phillipines, Benazir Bhutto gave great hope to tens of millions of Pakistan.
But the Establishment went into an over-drive to thwart her. She wanted peace with India. Rajiv Gandhi comes to Pakistan. There is much optimism in both countries. But the Establishment President Ishaq Khan calls India a 'regional hegemon' even as Rajiv's plane is landing in Islamabad--embarassing Benazir in a press conference with Rajiv when it was asked of her to clarify Khan's remarks. She had to say 'I have not seen that comment'.
I won't even mention how the Establishment saw it fit to stop Benazir from gaining real power in the 1988 and 1990 elections--the so-called IJI was supported to the hilt. Between 1988-90, every effort was made to make Benazir's rule fail.

These are historic facts. I am a witness to those, being an oldie. Pakistanis were denied their own Velvet Revolution. Their own Fall of the Berlin Wall. In late 80's the old order was crumbling in much of the Europe. In Pakistan it was being sustained.

Asghar Khan--not a friend of PPP-- has an ongoing case in the Supreme Court of Pakistan to investigate the Establishment's role in the dirty stuff like Operation Midnight Jackal since 1996. The chicken-hawk judges are, alas, too focused on other stuff to take up that case actively.

However, I am hoping that the role of the security Establishment has been weakened in Pakistan as far as political realm is concerned. If there is one benefit the WOT brought to Pakistan then this is one.

:-s self deleted, it's useless to hit head on the walls

Yes...! Generals are above the law and in Pakistan there is no court which is competent to try them. Even our hero CJ is unable to take the Sou-Moto against them. This option is widely exercised by Judiciary against Civilian setup.

Even the most affected politicians by these generals are afraid to go to courts but so swift to file petitions against their counterparts - a FEAR from within...

In short Pakistan's law provide holiday for generals 'the UNTOUCHABLES'.
