One man's escape from zero-Covid China to seek his American dream

Just one man? I am sure he is happy to get his paycheck from CNN who is eager to sell the China story. How about the cosplay for Xinjiang detention camp police which entertain us alot.

Zero covid is just dumb. More than half of covid infections are asymptomatic. You cannot test 1 billion Chinese every day. It's just dumb.

With zero covid policy, I believe the chance of people getting hit by covid in China is smaller than the chance of people getting shot by gun in USA.

Yup, the same dumb tactics that makes China only with 5000 over death vs the great tactics deploy by USA with more than a million death. Shall China learn from USA of such great tactics? :enjoy:

He maybe even killed by covid-19 in USA since the people there dont bother about any protection against covid-19...

Covid has been around for tens of thousands of years in humans at least. There's an old saying. If you can't beat them, join them.

China does need to drop the zero COVID policy. It's no longer feasible to continue without incurring significant damage to the economy. It was the right move at the start of the pandemic, when vaccine was not available and the fatality rate was quite high. It helped China got back on its feet quicker than the rest, but now I am afraid Xi may have squandered that early advantage away. Problem is that Xi sold his early COVID success as his signature accomplishment, so he rather drags down China rather than switching gear.

Zero COVID is just like One-Child policy. It made sense for a period of time but was dragged on way too long.

You have 1.4 billion people in China. Everyone can find whatever character and inclination out of 1.4 billions and write whatever stories they like.

It is also not surprising average peasants STILL look up on USA and migrating to USA, while many Chinese elites are still parking their wealth and migrating to USA, including scion of top communist leaders.

Zero policy will only be lifted when they have found a proven medicine that can cure serious symptoms of covid-19 that prevent Chinese going into ICU. I think China are not far from it.

They have their reason for such policy. Even a 50000 death covid related are not tolerated by mass Chinese. Xi will not risk this. A population with 1.4 billion population and only 5300 death. Look at India, it's 100 times more than China in terms of death for covid. And some still question Xi zero covid policy.

There are still about 10% of the population that are not vaccinated, that's 140 million people, if the pandemic spread in these people, it is still a disaster. I don't know why China hasn't vaccinated 100% of its population by now.
