why will communist country consider it as decadence??
As far as i know there are gulf courses in almost every so called "communist country"(well, in name. lol) out there. bar maybe Kim Dynasty's N.Korea.

Similar to corrupt officials in China. Most golf courses in China are money losing business. They just use this kind of projects to grab the land and wait for land revaluation and then profit from land revaluation. I bet very soon that the land for golf courses will become a retail property project. Using the name of gold courses allow those corrupt officials and businessmen to grab the land at very cheap price. Hong Kong's Ka-shing Li had numerous projects of this kind in China. It seems that Vietnamese officials and businessmen have learnt this from China.

when the northerner took over, everything was banned including private enterprises in the southern part of vietnam. golf was considered as a disgusting symbol of capitalism. and now what a change. Vietnam probably has 100 golf courses I think we should implement a policy giving golf playing rich foreigners permanent residency

Well, guess all communist "revolutionary leaders" in Asia will be turning in their graves seeing all their countries have all succumbed to "disgusting Evil" western capitalism.

Bro, it's just a sport/leisure. No crime in being rich. Or you will rather have a China of the 1970s/1980s were everybody is equal and poor?
China and many former communist countries like Vietnam are doing quite well after opening up and their people are now optimistic about the future(same can't be said of closed poor backward communist shithole like N.Korea whose people have no hope in the future). Obviously, it's not like everything is perfect, but it's far better than before.

Hanoi and Saigon are similar to first tier Chinese cities (Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai) in the 1990's. I remember very few people could afford golf courses those days. I was in a kid in China at that time, and perhaps 0.1% of the population could afford the golf course membership fees. My family was pretty well off, but still it was off limits to us. It's still exclusively the domain of the rich these days. Instead of the 0.1%, may 5% of the population in the first tier cities could afford such luxury now.
