The stand-off at Chumur had started almost a week ago.
New Delhi: The fresh transgression by the Chinese People's Liberation Army in Ladakh's Chumur that began on Thursday morning -- hours before Chinese President Xi Jinping landed in India -- tuned grave by late night. In terms of numbers, this is the third. One other has been on at Chumur, and one in Demchok. But going by the scale, this is the worst Chinese transgression in years.

Late night reports said the face-off at Chumur had got worse, with 1000 Chinese troops entering 4-5 km inside the Indian territory. India has rushed in reinforcements. In the morning, 100 Chinese soldiers had joined the existing 300.

The fresh transgression had come as a surprise to the Indian troops too, who had been aware of the other two incidents, which had been on for a week. Forty personnel of the Chinese army are camping out at Demchok.(Read: Ahead of Chinese President's Visit, A Fresh Transgression by China in Ladakh)

Efforts to resolve the transgressions have so far proved fruitless.

Two flag meetings between India and China on Thursday - one in the morning and one in the evening - remained inconclusive.

A marathon 12-hour meeting on Monday was equally fruitless. The border issue is to be one of the key topics of discussion between Mr Xi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The stand-off started almost a week ago at Chumur, which stands at the intersection of the international border and the Line of Actual Control, the de facto border between the two nations. The Chinese soldiers had brought in in heavy construction equipment and a large labour force to try and build a road up to the border. India objected strongly, sending troops as close as possible to the disputed site. After five days of deadlock, China sought a flag meeting -- which took place on Monday but remained inconclusive. (Read: Chinese Graziers Pitched Tents in Ladakh in Fresh Incursion Attempt: Sources)

Perhaps to divert focus from Chumur, the Chinese side objected to an irrigation canal being built at Demchock about 80 km away and sent hundreds of civilians to protest. The standoff at Demchock, unusually, is now between Indian and Chinese civilians.

You understand that according to the Chinese, we're many hundreds of kilometres into their territory?

it is funny that how people want to demoralize indians who have officially made it clear that they will firmly defend 3,500 km border with china and that means aksai china is an integral part of india. if people still have confusion, they should visit this thread and read all my posts.

Assertive India behind frequent border stand-offs in Ladakh?

And now see how the brave chinese responded

Chinese side objected to an irrigation canal being built at Demchock about 80 km away and sent hundreds of civilians to protest. :D

So cant your small mullah mind think will a army ask for flag meeting without the opponent army doing something?

china is not getting that the present indian govt is not like the former one and as the indian govt has said india will firmly defend its 3,500-km long border with china that means china will have to vacate aksai chin. the face off is because of this but some people want to demoralize indians. i can tell you that china will accept 3,500-km long border with china which means chinese are going to vacate aksai chin very very soon. if that does not happen, i swear, i will leave this forum forever. mark my words.

india and usa have already started drills near the chinese border just like usa is doing drills in ukraine to send a signal to russia.

once, the chinese president leaves india, you will see a lot of fireworks, just wait and see what happens next
Nothing gonna happen I bet You!!! on that.Few Western Lobbies Channels Such As NDTV & Times Now Making Huge Fuss About these Incidents Because You Know Its Suits there Agenda of BJP Bashing

Well as I have explained this earlier too that in that area, there is 20 km strip which is claimed by both since 1947 and literally have been a no men's land. If you say Chinese soldiers are 4-5 km inside Indian territory( according to Indian perception) means Indians are well Inside Chinese teritory (according to Chinese perception) but Its just that Chinese media doesn't make this a big fuss while Indian media does.
