What's new

OMG!!! DOW CLOSES UP 2,000 POINTS!!!! Best day since 1933

you will be playing with fire...
My take, if you aren't directly trading, is to just keep everything in cash and wait for capitulation.
You do not buy into a recession...but out of it...

I understand the "excitement" of profit when you see those pumps/dumps and those high %... but it isn't worth it... be patient.

Alright, I just listened to you and did a 'Full' withdrawal back to the Savings account! Should reassess what to do next. It doesn't help that the bank has never bothered to reply to me. Hopefully I won't incur any penalty for this withdrawal but neither the money has been invested yet or a dime has been made and I didn't see any warnings about penalty when just did the withdrawal.
Thank you and @PakFactor !

PHEW!!

So a rookie like me investing and disinvesting within a span on 24 hours should not be too ashamed; here is a veteran investor of 40 years who is ruing his investment choices lately...
Long read but just an excerpt is included here--kind of his conclusion.

PS. I am STILL waiting for Ally to take the money out of my new investment account and back into the Savings account; it's almost two days now. They were so quick to transfer TO the investment account! Sigh!

"On Tuesday the market soared, followed by two more days of gains. This time I felt no elation. Some of the biggest rallies have come in the middle of the worst bear markets.

My next target is when the S&P falls 40 percent from its peak. I may be buying again soon."

No shame in that, quite the opposite... Investors SHALL NOT be gamblers... When the syst that you base your "decision" upon isn't giving you a green light, you shouldn't continue...
Those who do are no better than the guy buying a Lottery Ticket...

The successful Investors in our History do not gamble... Many may see their moves/wealth has a "lucky" move but it's not... They put in place a syst based on certain conditions/specs etc... that when it turns green will act upon it.
It's not bc some do not understand that it doesn't exist.

@Meengla DJIA taking a dip today (like I said will be behaviour for a while).

When does you option kick in exactly day-wise?

Problem is that Ally is not responding at all! There is a Case Number assigned but no response to my emails. Chat too busy. Phone lines too busy. Unprofessional!! 3-4 days ago it took them exactly ONE minute to transfer from Savings to the Investment account, with a message that your money will be 'automatically' put into investment 'within 3 days'. But then I saw the stocks climb rapidly and so in barely 24 hours I did a 'full' withdraw but the money is still in the Investment account but not really invested either--shows the amount as 'Cash' but ZERO in 'securities'.
