Like I've always said, attaching a fancy term to a country doesn't magically alter its course. Even a simple breakdown would have shown the colossal problems that country had, and now those problems have got worse.
The whole term BRICS was just hype.

Every single country on the planet has its fair share of challenges and problems. Brazil has enormous corruption and security challenges. This country is also immensely blessed with natural resources. Like all other developing countries, Brazil is not immune to problems related to developing nations. Give them time. The developed countries didn't reach success overnight.

Typical American response. Negative and pessimistic. Stop using this opportunity to flex muscles. We don't fully know the circumstances in and around the village. It seems there are very little options available to the athletes to taste local cuisine. I'm sure the athletes would choose Brazilian cuisine over junk food any day. The article clearly states the lack of availability.

Hey the area the Olympic village is in is very nice looking. Go use Google Maps to drive along the coast. It has spectacular views. You'd never think there should be any problems..but they have been warned to not go outside their area for safety reasons...which is a shame.

I think the only thing I like is the ~$0.50 kids ice cream cones. I try and give their Big Mac a chance once every few years. But I then end up getting angry that I didn't drive an extra 2 minutes to at least a Burger King.

That is what I also pointed out. Just because the Brazilian organizers failed to deliver on local food availability doesn't make entire BRICS a failure. It is just a failure of the organizers.
