As I said, they might have assumed you were an Indian living in India. Your profile/login does not show where you are from. Since you certainly are NOT ("Hell NOT"), their 'preachings' are not applicable to you. As far as I go, I only said two things :-

1. Anyone living outside India does not have to give a single hoot about Indian laws or feelings etc etc etc. (Simple and easy, right?)
2. If someone is in living in India they will have to follow local Indian laws, ie no cow slaughting in certain Indian states.

(I personally cant remember the last time i had beef in a desi dish.)Unless of course the person enjoys burgers. We prefer goat meat and chicken.

In the US, beef is consumed on average 2-3 times a day by a single person. Why don't you hindus have a problem with them? Americans are made on burgers and steaks.

Are you from sindh? Where i live in Punjab near AK, goat and chicken are preferred. Beef at weddings and after big eid. When our freezer is full of it.

BTW, eating Potatoes and Onions is not allowed in Jainism. So why not ban that too?

Whatever the majority norms are, is what the rules will be shaped to be....esp as a society develops.

Even in western developed countries, no one (of a minority) is going to be asking to be able to eat dogs and cats (and establish wholesale rearing + meatpacking chains of those) which are seen as pet, friendly animals by the majority of people there.

Its not only jains that (in theory) avoid underground roots and vegetables....plenty of Hindus as well do so for various reasons. But the practice of such ahimsa and karmic theory has much different scaling (like comparing haram with makruh as equivalent) when compared to the ahimsa and karma of slaughtering animals for consumption....and this has been established in the dharmic society over millenia now. So your attempt at trying to compare here falls flat.

You can eat dogs and cats if you want in Western countries, it's just that you need to slaughter it yourself. Which is fair as no one is asking Hindus to slaughter cows.

I know people who treat eating root vegetables like of you were eating your own hand. So in order to not offend them, all root vegetables should be illegal. Makes as much logic as your beef ban.
