Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: According to the statement of assets attached with the nomination papers he filed for NA-48 Islamabad, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Makhdoom Javed Hashmi is penniless.

Javed Hashmi has not mentioned anything in the assets column of the nomination papers.
NA-48 has become the centre of focus because of filing of candidatures by Javed Hashmi and former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf. Though these candidates have no significant clout in the constituency because of strong PPPP and PML-N vote bank, it would be interesting to see the contest between Javed Hashmi and Pervez Musharraf. The latter had put the former behind bars in a treason case during his stint in the Presidency.

The details of the assets of the two candidates is interesting, according to which contrary to a “poor” Javed Hashmi, his rival Pervez Musharraf’s coffers are filled with huge sums of money. Musharraf owns Rs 645 million worth of assets as per his statement. His wealth has registered a phenomenal growth of Rs 129 million in just one year. Musharraf also declared Rs 80 million as personal expenditure in his assets details.

In personal details, he informed the ECP that he is nominated in three FIRs. The trial on the basis of these three FIRs is underway in Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi, ATC Quetta and in Magistrate Court Islamabad. Meanwhile, J Salik, a minority leader and former federal minister for minorities, also filed the nomination papers for NA-48 seat and declared his total assets at Rs 20,000.

All these ppl should be investigated and told to deposit money in a national account. This is utter shame.
