President Obama is expected to outline his plans for the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.
According to reports, 30,000 US troops are likely to be withdrawn.
President Obama has been under pressure from Pentagon that he should announce withdrawal only 5,000 troops from Afghanistan this year. On the other hand, Afghan
President Hamid Karzai opposes this decision of troops withdrawn. The US president is also under tremendous pressure from Democrats.
Obama will announce withdrawal of 30,000 thousand troops, setting aside the suggestions of Pentagon.
Some people are of view that announcement regarding the withdrawal of troops will be made in 2012 rather than July, and troops would be pulled out in two phases- 15000 at the end of this year and as many the next year.
The responsibility to draw down the remaining troops by 2014 would rest with the commanders on the ground.
