ISLAMABAD - The National University of Modern Languages (Numl) is all set to establish an English medium school in China.
In this regard a 12-member Xinjiang logistic delegation from China visited Numl on Wednesday. The delegation, which was headed by Yuan Jianmin, Deputy Secretary General, China Council for International Investment Promotion, Executive Director and MD Sinotrans & CSC, Xinjiang Co. Ltd and also Standing Vice President Xinjiang Institute of Foreign Studies, met Director General (DG) Azam Jamal and other officials of the university and discussed prospectus and modalities of establishing an English Medium School in Urumqi, Xinjiang by Numl.
The members of delegation including Chen Xinmin, General Manager (GM) Xinjiang Hualin Logistic Company Ltd, Bao Longze, GM Xinjiang Shuangying Lenglian Logistic Company, Wang Yongsheng, President Xinjiang Construction Design and Plan Institute and many high officials of many other Chinese logistic companies met the DG.
During the meeting with DG Brig Azam Jamal, My Jianmin said high officials of Xinjian province have been eagerly waiting for the establishment of English Medium School at Urumqi by Numl as it will be another symbol of Pakistan-Chinas friendly relations.
He said Numls Chinese and Confucius Departments are contributing a lot in promoting cultural and academic exchanges between both countries but the establishment of the school will provide an opportunity to population of Xinjiang, which comprises of 30 different races, to have interaction and connection with their Pakistani brothers.
He further added President of China Hu Jintao, metaphors Pakistani-China relations as Good Neighbeours, Good Partners, Good Friends and Good Brothers. History is replete with incidents where Pakistan and China stood by each other in adverse times and now both are contributing in each others economic, geographic, and strategic well being, he added.
DG Brig Azam Jamal informed the members of visiting delegation that as far as the establishment of a school by Numl in Xinjiang is concerned, work is going on the project and time is not afar when we will practically implement it. Numl is having expertise to run an academic institution of any level. Moreover, institute in Xinjiang will further be expanded for the teaching and learning languages of other Chinese local languages but also other foreign languages in China.
Moreover, Yuan Jianmin also delivered a lecture on the topic of Pak-China Strategic Relations and the lecture was also attended by all Deans, Head of Departments, Directors and Faculty members of the university. In the end DG presented an appointment letter to Mr Yuan Jianmin as first overseas visiting professor in Chinese Department of Numl and presented gifts and shields to members of delegation.
