nuke escalation,India limits its response to Pakistan’s provocations

.
One serious drawback of the media is that any arm chair strategist feels he is competent to comment on any issue.

This article is one such example. The 1st paragraph is reproduced below :

Indian leaders have further undermined our deterrence by repeatedly proclaiming that they do not want war. This is the one point on which there is consensus in New Delhi but consensus is not wisdom. Even if war is not an option, taking it off the table is the height of strategic stupidity. As long as India is unable to threaten Pakistan with military retaliation, Pakistan has little incentive to stop supporting terrorist actions against India. Diplomacy provides few useful responses.

Does the author seriously believe what he has written to be correct & reflective of national policy ?

Who knows Pakistan will hand over it to there soldiers and they will attack India with Nuke. Pakistani army has history of hiding inside Salwar of Terrorirsts,,

I found the language of your post vulgar and distasteful. Post reported :coffee:

Diplomacy provides few useful responses.

Diplomacy can aid military power but it cannot replace it.

These two sentences are the most absurd things I have read.

Au contraire, military power aids diplomacy, and surely as history proves, diplomacy certainly displaces use of military power. Its a terrible mistake of putting the military option before diplomacy. The policies of a country dictate diplomacy and responsible powers use military power as an extension of their diplomatic policies, not the other way around.

The author simply does not seem to understand how international politics works. One cannot just go and threaten anyone simply because they provoke, prod or threaten you. Given that a kind word with a gun takes one places, but then displaying the gun always follows the 'kind word'.

GoI is prudent to not want war. Till the last minute. Till everything else, till every other option is exhausted. And then, there is no need to make any noise before exercising that option.

Unless one of these two gentlemen have custody of N bomb, i don't see any nuke flareup in sub-continent.
