PML- N and PPP have interim heads.Just came to notice this.
PML- head in Soudi
PPP- head in west
MQM- head in london
PMLQ- no real head
With all the four major parties having no real head, Pakistan's parties are truly unnatural.
MQM head is in London for no good reason (well he fears assassination).
PML-Q has Shujaat Hussain as the Party President.
MQM is not a mohajir party any more. Hasn't been in over a decade. It changed its name to Muttahida Qaumi Movement instead of Muhajir QM. They are a very diverse party, they will be a serious challenge to PPP as long as they are around. Sindh would be divided and PPP has never really gotten a clear hold of Punjab but this time around I think it would be divided between PPP and PML-Q as well.
The last time, in 2002, PPP had the highest number of seats in all of Pakistan (so much for rigged elections). But when you combined PML-Q and MQM, they controlled Punjab and Sindh there by making the government. PPP wasn't even an opposition simply because MMA controlled Balochistan and NWFP. There are all these parties PPP has to compete with.
