Norway massacre: Breivik declared insane

not entirely true... it was a youth party of the leading party in Norway, not a rally for Palestine. although they lean more towards the Palestinian side than the Israeli!

they where there to teach politics and have fun or whatever.

i myself can't stand that party...
you are conservative silko?
or any other reason why you can't stand this parti? (just curious)

Utoya turns out to be an island where heavily pro Palestinian activities were taking place and it is NO secret in Norway

you hit the bulls eye with that, plus Norway has a long history of soft support for the Palestinian movement something which now officially MAD,Pagal & “Paranoid Schizophrenia” Breivik, a self-declared anti-immigration militant, dint like not to forget his hate for Islam & its growing following in the almost bankrupt Europe

for those who are accusing us of victemhood a dose of reality would do
Breivik's far-right[15] militant ideology is described in a compendium of texts, titled 2083 – A European Declaration of Independence and distributed electronically by Breivik on the day of the attacks[15][16] under the anglicised pseudonym Andrew Berwick.[17][18] In it he lays out his worldview, which includes support for varying degrees of cultural conservatism, ultranationalism Islamophobia right-wing populism,[19] Zionism, anti-feminism,[20][21] Serbian paramilitarism,[22] and white nationalism.[23] It regards Islam and cultural Marxism as the enemy, and argues for the violent annihilation of "Eurabia" and multiculturalism, to preserve European Christendom.[15][24][25][26] He thought that his so-called "Knights Templar" organisation would take power in Europe and insert him as regent of Norway, and he had ideas of using Norwegians in breeding projects and placing them in reservations.[27]
Anders Behring Breivik - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Breivik confessed and stated that the purpose of the attack was to save Norway and Western Europe from a Muslim , takeover and that the Labour Party had to "pay the price" for "letting down Norway and the Norwegian people".Anders Behring Breivik - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

What's the point? The maximum he could have gotten was 11 years.

Well, at least they would now keep him in a mental institution for life.

Only 11 years for the murder of so many innocent people. Wonder how the family members of the one's killed would feel.

Norway's legal system is so flawed.

Norway's judicial system is very different from judicial systems around the world, they believe in "rehabilitation" and not "retribution". Basically they believe that crimes are committed due to problematic bringing up, and that criminals can be mentally rehabilitated if you place them in places which are very peaceful and teach communal harmony. So their prisons are something like a very nice place to be. This might seem outlandish but the truth is this believe is parallel with recent scientific findings, and this system works really nice in Norway. I personally support this kind of systems.

Now the problem is the same should be given to muslims if he commits such activities. Unfortunately for us, we get sent to Guantanamo Bay.

Would it be fair to the family who lost a loved one due to a murderer?

After 10 years, the criminal will be released to walk around freely while the victim is long dead and buried. Imagine the feeling of seeing someone who murdered your love one's walking freely in the street..

What kind of justice is this? If you take someone's life, there is no way you can be allowed to live yours.

You can ask the one who lost their lives if they support this type of judicial system or not, but you would be surprised to know that the overwhelming majority will say they support their system. After 10 years when the criminal will be released he will be a normal person, who likes to live in peace and communal harmony. If you compare the number of people who commit criminal activities after serving jail terms by country, you will see that Norway is almost non existent there.

And regarding life for life, many countries around the world have omitted the death sentence. And we must progress our judicial systems as we progress as well, right now our judicial systems are based on medieval styles and beliefs.

Having such a system would complicate alot of things.

Would you agree with terrorist who have killed 100's being given a second chance at life?

It just isn't fair.

Norway's overall crime-rate is low, so they get away with such a system. But implementing the same system in Asian and Middle-East countries just isn't going to work.

Anyway, you have laid our your points well too, so let's just agree to disagree :)

Norway's overall crime-rate is low, so they get away with such a system.

And why do you think Norway and other Scandinavian countries have such a low crime rate, while countries that have an eye for an eye justice system as the U.S.. has ten times as many in jail and a very high crime rate?

Because there is more social injustice and poverty in the US as compared to Scandinavia

Culture and upbringing based on humanity. Better economic condition and less poverty. Good government care of it's citizens.

Nothing to do with the legal system being handed out to those who commit crimes.

So our justice system has nothing to do with our crime rate? Interesting thought.
